Reviews of Sharp LC46BD80U from Amazon.com
Great buy!
Amazon's service is the best... especially the free delivery. picture quality and sound was great. great vallue. minor problem is Blue ray and DVD loading time is a little long but it is negligible. I saved money on buying a separate blue ray player and additional speaker system. fits our living room very well!

No 52" Model Available
The industry can't seem to find a market for ;arge format TVs with built-in DVD or blu-ray disc players. According to Sharp they never put the 52" model into production so I don't know how sellers can advertise it. The 46" model has been discontinued and I suspect that the whole series has been discontinued now.
The next biggest that i've found is the Westinghouse 40" LCD/DVD combo. Otherwise seems like 32" is the largets out there.

I would recommend this TV.
We have had this TV for 3 months now and are very satisfied with it. We aren't high demand users and really everything about it has been fine for us. I mostly watch sports and the picture is great for basketball and baseball. Football season is just starting so I'm looking forward watching that on this TV. My only complaint (and the reason for 4 stars and not 5) is that the DVD player doesn't seem to play very many types of files/disks, even with updated firmware. It doesn't show things like jpg files or video files from my camera that play on other stand alone DVD players (non Blu-ray). Maybe all Blu-ray players are limited like that, I don't know. We get around it by hooking up a portable DVD player to the side AV jacks and watching them that way but it would be easier to just be able to pop the disks into the built in drive. Overall I think this is a great TV and I would recommend it.

Doesn't work right out of the box
I bought a sharp Aquos lc-42bd80u from Costco. This has a built in Blu-ray disc. Sounds nice and looks nice the picture is nice, but the menu does not respond to commands in any regular manner. I could initially select an option after multiple tries, but now I can't even do that. The batteries are fresh - even switched them out from the ones that came in the box (Panasonic batteries). After the trouble of much research about the right HDTV to buy I can't believe I settled on such a lemon. Even when I operate the Blu-ray without the remote it gives me error messages on the screen - Cannot Operate. This is a very helpful message! I only bought the set with the Blu-ray because it was the only set in Costco that seemed to have a decent picture. I will be returning this for good tomorrow. Bye bye Sharp. Think twice about buying or selling a set with a built in disk player!

Great Product
Works right out of the box with all my Blueray and DVDs. Excellent picture (clear, bright, sufficient contrast) and good sound. Picture required adjustment but was easy enough. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Love it but hate the sound
I have had the product for one month now. The TV was very easy to setup and use. It looks great. I like the way the menu is easy to use - only wish the manual went into more depth about some of the controls. The main item that I dislaike is the sound system. It is very weak. Watching DVDs and some TV programs I need to max the sound level out - and even then it is not sufficient. I finally called customer service about this issue and told me that there is a software update that will take care of the problem. FYI the TV can only handle flash drive/memory sticks uo to 2 GB. All mine are over that so customer service told me that they would send the updates on a flash drive. Sure hope it works...

PROBLEM
Sharp Aquos TV w/built in blue ray DVD, it's a problem. After 5 months of use I had to take a day off work to meet the repair man because the blue ray quit working & still is hanging up. I have to unplug it to get it to reset. The sound is awful because the speakers are behind the screen & pointing away from the people watching so I bought a Sharp sound bar & it quite working also. So overall I don't recommed Sharp products because the quality is poor their support is worse.
