Nice!!
Great picture! The sound is very clear and plenty loud. No need to rush out and buy a sound system unless that's your thing. Delivery was courteous and punctual. All in all this turned out to be a great way to purchase the Samsung LN52B550 52-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color.

Go with the 120 Hz if you're gonna spend the money....
The clarity on this Samsung model is phenomenal. The black is definitely blacker than any model I have seen but if you're gonna spend upwards of $1,500, do yourself a favor, spend the extra $300 and get a 120 hz refresh rate. This model boasts a 60 hz, which in itself is not bad at all, but it seems like when you get as big as a 52", the fast action seems to blur a lot more than my older 40". Maybe it is the size difference effecting it, but I wish I had sucked it up and got the 120hz. On slow movies, or even sports such as golf, hockey, or football, you won't notice. But watch a quick movie with lots of action scenes, and you will notice a bit of a blur/pixel on this model. Just go and get that extra 60hz, you won't regret it.

52 Samsung Awesome
I got my 52LN550 ladder part of August. When I got the HD hookup with Dish, it took my breath away.
What a gorgeous picture. I watch Whale Wars on Animal Planet and I felt like I was in the cabin of the ship. Everything so clear. My Uncle came to visit, went home and ordered one, he was so impressed.
Football games-Whow! Beautiful.

BUY IT
All I can say is this is a super TV. Beautiful picture,no glare problems, just out of the box, it arrived to me in only a couple of days, and me and the delivery guy opened it up, the box was in great condition and we looked it over, plugged it in and it came right on, there have been comments about the sound, but I find it to be just great, I have it in a small living room, so with just the sound 1/4 of the way up it is very loud and sounds great. I am sure with a sound system it would be much better, but I think you will still enjoy it,unless you are wanting the whole movie surround sound, and all I can say is Amazon is a great company to deal with, I had ordered the 46" before, but my friend had the 52" and I wanted it, they only charged me 49.95 to return it and my account was immediately credited, you can not go wrong with this company, AAAAAAAAAAA+++++++++++++. A Happy customer, Sherri :) Also Ceva was the delivery company and both times were excellent.

Great TV
I love this tv. I have not had any issues with the refresh rate. I watch action movies all the time and there has not been any blur issue. I found this tv for less than $1200 delivered, at that price you can't go wrong.

Samsung
We searched all the different name brands for about 6 month to find the best. After careful consideration Samsung won out as the best you can get. We mounted it on a wall and could not be happier with the picture it is the best. The football and races are amazing. I would recommend this product. Size does make a difference. Great product and delivery was great. Two men brought the TV into my livingroom and placed it where we wanted it, very special service. Amazon is the best.

Great television...not so great shipping service.
Got th television in great shape. Was informed that he could only drop it off and not help in anyway. If I had ordered from Amazon he could help...but I thought I did. No assistance from Crutchfield deliveries? BTW I am in a 3/4 cast on my dominant arm. Thanks alot for the help. No more tv's from Crutchfield...
On the point of the TV...best purchase I have made in years. It is replacing an old 42" Samsung DLP that I got in 2005 and the differences are like night and day. Everything is sharper and easier to focus on. This is outstanding as I have my computer hooked to my TV with an HDMI cable. The changeover makes everything look brand new. Time to play some more games...nm I don't have the use of my right hand either...

Great Tv
I just set up my LN52b550 with the correct set-up and love it. At first I didn't have an HDMI cable, and the picture quality was disappointing, but once it was set up right I just think the picture is fabulous. Can't wait for many hours of excellent viewing.

Spectacular TV
I am one of those people who have researched TVs for years. I settled on this one because the price was right for such a big TV, and Samsung is renowned for great quality TVs. I was not disappointed, this is a spectacular TV with sharp crystal-clear and vibrant images from good sources.
TV: Standard definition looks okay, and probably as it should. It is the only format that doesn't look stunning on this TV but it probably shouldn't anyway.
DVD: I have a huge library of DVDs and wanted a TV that could show they as well as possible. This TV does that when hooked up through my Blu-Ray player via HDMI cable. Some lesser quality movies need to run at 480p to look their best (you can change the setting on the player), but many upconvert extremely well and are hard to tell apart from Blu-ray, seriously.
Blu-ray: Flawless and crisp images from good discs, just spectacular.
PS3 and X-Box: Video games look and move incredibly, with no blurring at all, they look crisp and sharp and gorgeous. Resident Evil, Street Fighter, and lots of other games looked beautiful.
Notes: The content has a gigantic impact on the picture quality, DVDs, HDTV, and Blu-rays all vary in quality, so expect that some will not look quite as fantastic as others. I think the TV should be judged by how well it handles good content, and this TV rocks. So 95% of this time you will be impressed. Sound on this TV is great, if you are used to a home theater than setup a home theater, but the speakers work very well on this TV and are plenty clear and loud.
I have noticed no motion blur whatsoever in movies for both DVD and Blu-ray (even Transformers on Blu-ray). Watching football, I have a hard time deciding whether it is the content or the TV causing very very minor graininess (rarely), so I can say that there is virtually no noticeable motion blur with this TV despite its specs having a refresh rate of 6 ms while higher end models have 2 or 4 ms. But to clarify, football looks awesome! As well as everything else.
Based on my experience with this TV over the past three weeks, I believe spending a lot more money will get you only incremental improvements in image quality that to all but the most serious videophile, no one would be able to tell the difference between this TV and one costing twice a much.

Best bang for the buck in a Samsung HDTV
This reviews contains the stuff I would have wanted to know before paying for a TV of this size.
I recently upgraded to a Samsung LN52B550 1080i 60Hz HDTV from a 32 inch Samsung 720p HDTV. I liked the old Samsung set but it is kinda small by today's standards. The picture on this TV is awesome. At first the 52" screen looked too big for the room but now after viewing several movies, its perfect. (My distance from the set in the room where I use it varies from 10ft to 13ft away.) Definitely not too big - I see new details in movies that I never saw before and the big screen experience really makes watching your old favorite DVDs like they are brand new movies. (Do get a DVD player that upscales the DVDs to 1080i resolution - they are just to cheap not to get the clarity that gives you... better yet get a Blue-Ray since prices have come way down)
The TV arrives in a large carton. Putting the stand on it is easy. The TV is not so heavy but it is big and therefore cumbersome to move. It will take two people to lift it up the stairs and onto the table surface or whatever where you will set it down. I did not wall mount it but if you want to do so you could purchase a mount for probably $150 bucks. Hooking the TV up is a breeze if you use HDMI cables - probably buy two six footers - and probably buy them on the web for the best price because they are overpriced in most stores.
If you have a receiver, use HDMI cables to run the sound of this TV through it. The TV sound is nothing special but running it through your receiver it sounds great. There are other options like RCA cables, Composite video connections etc. but HDMI is just so easy because it carries the picture and the sound and retains the best possible picture resolution and sound sampling rates without having to worry if you could be doing better by hooking it up differently. It does have the ability to hook up to your computer but I did not try that yet.
My question when purchasing this unit as opposed to some other model, was whether the 60Hz screen refresh was good enough in light of all the talk about 120Hz and even 240Hz speeds. The higher Hz is supposed to help keep the blurring down in fast motion scenes - and I am sure it would - but it comes at a hefty price ($300). Here is my rationale: Consider that the movies themselves are blurred in fast moving scenes. Don't understand what I mean? Watch a movie then pause it during an action scene. When paused, you are seeing a single frame. It is blurred because the camera took the photo that way - not because your screen refresh rate can't keep up with it. Try the same thing with a Pixar movie (which is NOT created with a camera). The illustrators deliberately motion-blur frames to get life-like action results. Maybe the 120 or 240Hz makes more difference with sports, but with football games the picture is stunningly crystal clear and I have never noticed any blurring. So anyway, I opted not to pay that extra price and accepted this TV's 60Hz speed.
The contrast ratio is another thing that is much greater on more expensive sets but the end result is just not worth paying extra for. Perhaps an exception could be made for gamers, where effects are often for the gaming experience rather than realism. However those extreme contrast and computer created lighting effects do not have a realistic look. If movie makers were to use them in production, they would look weird. So, do you need a TV with a really high contrast ratio (where the blacks are really blackest)? I did not see that as worthwhile.
I liked the sets I looked at with LCD backlighting because of the consistent brightness even into the corners, but you are not likely to notice that difference with typical viewing of movies. The manufacturers are really proud of the LCD backlighting feature, but the extra price you pay for the LCD backlight is extreme - very low bang for the buck. This set does not have LCD backlighting - just the standard florescent.
Feature-wise, this model has all the typical menu based settings, channel guides and source options, so really no big pluses or minuses in that department. Like all LCDs, the screen has a matte finish so the reflections from windows or lamps in the room are not very noticeable. (Plasma screens can have a lot of glare so I prefer LCD unless the TV is in a room with no windows.)
This is not a new TV design by any means, but it is at the best price point if you want to upgrade to a really nice TV and don't care about bragging to your friends about the latest and greatest techie stuff you got.
By the way, I don't have cable! (If I like a movie I buy it or rent it & I don't care about the shows...) So, this TV is hooked up to the same roof mounted antenna I have had for 20 years and the picture is great. Just use the shielded coaxial cable you can get at Lowes or Home Depot. I understand there are Hi-Def antennas out there but I have not needed to try one.
Bottom line: the 52" size seems big at first but is really good for the average living room - worth the cost difference from a 46". The 60Hz refresh, 6 millisecond response time; 70,000:1 contrast ratio and standard backlighting are all sufficient for really great 1080i resolution viewing of DVD or Blu-Ray media.
I purchased this unit for $1119 in December of 2009 & I am very pleased. If I had it to do over again now after having it for several weeks & seeing the after Christmas specials, I would still get the same one.

Not bad for the price
Like many have mentioned, the picture quality is excellent as well as the color/contrast. The 60hz refresh rate is not as severe as a handicap as some has mentioned. I watch mostly sports, which is where this issue seems to tested the most. All in all, a nice LCD for the price and certainly better than the 40" Sony I had before.

Great TV!
I decided to step up to a larger TV and bought a 52 inch Samsung. I had a 40 inch before, but it didn't seem big enough. This TV is BIG. I did a lot of research and what helped push me to Samsung was the Touch of Color. It is not an intrusive bright red, but just a "touch". Regardless the tv works lovely. The menu is easy to navigate also. No problems with the remote either. There are other decent televisions of this size, but this had the best sale at the time also. Shipping was easy and they set it up for me also. Packaged well, and if there was damage, you have 30 days to return. I have to applaud Amazon for refunding me an additional $200 after the tv was delivered, since the price dropped on Amazon on the day of delivery by $200.

Fantastic TV
Ive been researching a new TV for the family room for months now, monitoring prices and going to every store to view side by side comparisons. I chose this TV and couldnt be more happier. We've been using it for 6 months now and I see a noticeable improvement in picture and sound quality over my older samsung.
I have this TV, a Samsung 1080p 40 inch, and a Samsung 720p 32".
I was initialy worried about not having 120 hz, because that seems to be the new rave, but watching this TV side by side with the 120 hz in stores I didnt see a difference.
I have this TV hooked up to a 5.1 surround sound, but for normal TV watching I use the built in speakers (*GASP*) and suprisingly they are pretty good. Some flatscreens speakers tend to "fart" at higher volumes, but this one stays crisp in my normal range of 25-35. We have a very large family room, and the sound fills the room. When im watching TV late at night, I dont feel the need to have my surround sound on and wake the neighbors so Its nice to have decent speakers built in the TV.
However, if you are watching movies with deep bass, then you need surround sound, just like you would with any flat screen TV but the built in speakers are more than adequate for the news, sportscenter, or your regular shows on ABC, NBC or HGTV.
My father is a videophile and came to visit and commented on how sharp my picture was and was wondering what the specs were. I showed him what they were and the price of the TV and he was shocked that the picture was as good as his $3,000 1080p 120hz Sony.
Funny how so far the only negative comment out of the 30+ reviews was dealing with shipping. This was the first TV I bought online, and I was REALLY worried about shipping. Does UPS just leave this on the doorstep? How does it even fit on the doorstep? I found out that amazon ships this to a local shipping company in my area, and the shipping company called me and set up a delivery date to ensure that I was home. They helped me carry the TV inside the house, I set it up, made sure it was working, and signed for it. It was very convenient and hassle free.
From now on, Im shopping for TV's in best buy, and then buying them online when they are cheaper!

Great TV
I had been looking at this brand all year, but in the 46 inch size. But when the prices kept coming down
decided to get the 52 and was not disappointed. I don't think it is worth the cost to upgrade at this time. Drop shipped right to my door. They would have unpacked the set for me but I declined as it was pretty cold that day and they would not wait until it warmed to plug in and test. It didn't matter anyway as setup was easy and no issues with operation as of yet.

Fantastic TV and value
After doing a lot of research I decided the Samsung LN52B550 was the best value for my money, but all of the local Fry's and Best Buys were out of stock. I finally found one at Sears and they matched Fry's price plus 10% of the difference. So I was happy with the price paid ($1101 plus tax and $10 electronic waste fee) I was pleasantly surprised that it only took about 10 minutes to get it out of the box and working with our Comcast cable + DVR box. I used the $3 HDMI cable found here on Amazon plus an APC 450 watt UPS to make sure undervoltage does not damage the new LCD. The whole solution is working flawlessly! I can't really see the red touch of color, it is very faint, but I do like the style of the TV with it's smoke edging. Also, one of my main reasons for purchasing this particular model is that it has a semi-matte LCD coating. Our old 50" Sony standard TV had terrible glare from the 3 big windows directly facing the TV. Our new Samsung has zero glare, except when the tv is dark (like dark scenes or when it's turned off) That's a huge deal for me as I hate living in the dark and my husband is a tv addict and was always closing the blinds. We haven't done any tuning yet, but the high definition channels are amazing! At least with default settings, the standard def channels look terrible and are restricted to a smaller portion of the screen in 16x9 mode which is the only tolerable setting. I probably won't bother trying to fix it since all channels we watch are available in HD.

Love this TV!
We have had this tv about a week & we ordered from Amazon. We tried Best Buy first, but they had run out of this model over the Christmas holiday. We went from a 36" to this 52" tv. We thought of buying a 48", and thought 52" would be too big, but we are so happy with this tv so far. The picture is almost lifelike. And one of the best quality LCD tv's, before looking at the expensive LED models. Our tv is on a stand, & we like this look better than having it mounted.

Samsung 52-inch 1080p HDTV
This TV is rated near the top of all the reviews I read, so I expected the best. It does not fail to impress me how nice the TV's of today are. I bought my first big TV in about 1985, and they just keep getting better. You will not be sorry for purchasing this unit. The features & picture quality are second to none.

Like it a lot but...
I really like this TV a lot. This is our 3rd Samsung -- we got a 50 inch DLP 5 years ago that is perfect, and we also have a 42 inch LCD above the fireplace that is 3 years old.
We bought this TV primarily for watching sports and playing Wii in our finished basement. The shipping was fast, but I had to go pick up the tv at the warehouse because I expected it to be delivered on the "delivery date" (1/13/10), but the company was booked for the next 5 days. As January 13th was my husband's birthday, I decided to go get it myself for the big surprise! We mounted it on the wall, and it is holding up really well.
My only word of caution to anyone out there considering this television or any television of this size is that you really need to take into consideration how far away you will be viewing the television. We have ours hooked up to an HDMI cable and Verizon Fios, and when you are within a few feet of the television it appears pixely/grainy. I called Verizon, and the technician basically told me that the picture will definitely be grainy if you are relatively close to it. The distance between the viewing area and the tv is something I just had not considered when buying this tv, and I wish I had! The picture from further back, however, is very, very nice. I sort of wish I had bought a slightly smaller television for the space, and we may even switch the 42" in the living room with the 52" in the basement.
Having said that, Samsung is a great tv and we like this model very much.
We have ours hooked up to an HDMI cable and Verizon Fios, and when you are within a few feet of the television it appears pixely/grainy. great TV for the price
We had been looking to upgrade to LCD from Panasonic DLP. When prices got to the point that we were comfortable with we bought this one, based on reviews and looking at the different pictures on different brands. We had a 46" and was going to stay with that but with little price difference decided to go to the 52". We are glad we did. Since buying it we received a Samsung Blu-Ray/Netflix player for Christmas and with this total package have found really good entertainment for bad winter evenings. We recommend the purchase of the player at the same time to make the complete entertainment package.

Great TV
This TV has excellent picture quality, especially for the money, and I've compared this TV at stores, and it's as good as any TV many hundreds more. I have always been a fan of Samsung TVs, and I think they make some of the best LCD TVs out there. Very bright colors, dark blacks. TV looks very nice too, with the full edge to edge glass and the touch of red. Like many people say, I do not notice any blurring at all with the 60hz refresh rate.
The sound quality could be better, but it's very much acceptable. Probably partly due to the fact that the speakers aim down from the bottom in order to hide them from the front, so you don't get direct speakers aiming at you. I don't care because I will be using this with my surround sound system anyway.
Shipping was amazingly fast. Ordered on a Friday, arrived the following Monday.

For a little over $1K, this 52" 1080P Samsung HDTV is no doubt a great buy, if u don't need 120 or 240 Hz to watch racing. If you do, just pay another $300-$400 more.

Be aware of the Samsung panel "lottery"!
I had a home break-in and my Samsung LN40A550 (the 'A' is the previous model) was stolen. Once calibrated, it was absolutely fantastic. I looked into replacing it with a larger size of the same model (now LNxxB550 as opposed to the LNxxA550). I am a tech geek and really do a lot of research (mostly on avsforum dot com). I found out two things about the difference in the B550 from the A550:
1. Some of the user-accessible settings that were available in the A550 were removed. This would only affect those who want to get a very precise calibration without going into the service menu (which voids your warranty).
2. THIS IS THE BIG ONE. Samsung has quietly started to substitute non-Samsung (Taiwanese) panels into much of their LCD line-up. In particular, Samsung started using AMVA (AUO) and SMVA (CMO) panels. This would not be that much of an issue if the Taiwanese panels had the same quality specs as the Samsung Korean ones. But almost all knowledgeable users report that the Taiwanese panels are vastly inferior. I went to many of my local B&M electronics stores to make sure I was getting a Samsung panel (they are coded on the box and the side of the TVs. Samsung panels are denoted by a SSnn or SQnn code. The non-Samsung panel codes are AAnn, ACnn, Cxnn. You can read about this at length by doing a search for "Samsung S, A, C Panel Differences: 2009 LCD Line-Up" in AVSforum.
The problem with an online purchase is that you have no way to know which panel you will receive. To spend over $1000 and get a poorer version would be terribly disappointing. Note that I did find a Samsung SQ panel on the TV I purchased and I am quite pleased with the set.

* Great TV at any price *
This TV is my 4th 52" Samsung HDTV and I could not be more pleased. The colors are vivid and the picture is great.
The picture on this model is as good or better than the picture on my Samsung LN52A860 which is a much more expensive
TV and 120hz. I am not crazy about the TOC red trim and the shiny trim does collect dust quickly but the TV picture and clarity can not be beat.

Great TV - Very Please
I purchased this TV a week ago, deliverd in 3 days. Shipper delivered ontime, unboxed and set on stand for me. Could not be happier with quality of picture and BluRay looks amazing. I do agree with many that the sound quality is not terrific, but doesn't matter to me as I also purchased a home theater system. (Onkyo, also amazing!)
Highly recommend this TV for the Price!!

52 INCHES OF PURE VISUAL PLEASURE!!!!!!!!!
WE BOUGHT THIS TV AND FROM THE TIME WE HOOKED IT UP. WE FOUND COLOR SEPARATION, BRIGHTNESS, CONTRAST AND OVERALL VIEWING WAS TOTALLY OFF THE CHAIN. MY WIFE AGREED, WE MADE A WISE PURCHASE. HATS OFF TO THE SAMSUNG CORPORATION. THIS 52 INCH LN52B550 MODEL IS JUST INCREDIBLE! BUILT IN SPEAKERS ARE 3.5 STARS IN OUR OPINION. WITH THAT SAID, SHOUT OUTS TO! ALL THE REVIEWERS WHO HELPED MAKE OUR DECISION A REALITY

60HZ or 120HZ - no difference
Analyzed 60HZ and 120HZ difference for almost 3 months then decided to go with 60HZ. I would have bought 52b630, was aiming for that. But it didn't match budget. So went ahead with this model when it came with the deal (TV+Blu ray player). We dont regret. It was good deal. Picture/black levels are too good. We started spending more time watching TV now (its not good :( ).
There is a possibility that price might go down further, new TV models are on the way for Spring.

Amazing, when it works.....
I've had a 32" Samsung LCD since 2006, and it's worked perfectly the entire time with an amazing picture. So naturally when it was time to upgrade to the larger set, Samsung was "ahead of the pack" in my opinion.
After 3 or 4 weeks of HEAVY research, I purchased the LN52B550 off Amazon January 7th.
Product arrived January 13th (very speedy and courteous delivery!), hooked it up with PS3 Bluray, Comcast HD, and calibrated with DVE (the older 2003 version). The picture was absolutely STUNNING! And I mean STUNNING! The 60hz is barely even noticible, even on fast action. It's simply not worth it to spend $1000 more on 240 hz! And BLU RAY looks beyond amazing!
I was also relieved to see I got the Samsung panel (on some Samsung TV's you have a 2 in 3 chance of getting a Made in Taiwan panel, and consequently a 1 in 3 chance of getting the genuine Made in Korea panel). If you google "Samsung Panel Lottery" you'll see what I'm talking about! This is an unfortunate side effect of ever-increasing price pressure on these LCD manufacturers.
2 days later, every research-intensive person's nightmare: The TV turned itself off after watching a blu-ray, and would not turn back on!
Called in a claim to Samsung, local repair shop came in and checked the Power Board and Mother Board. He ordered a replacement Mother Board that immediately went on backorder. It just arrived Monday 2/1 (2 weeks later!), and he finally came out to replace it 2/2.
When he was installing the new Mother Board, I checked on the old one just for kicks....Well wouldn't you know it? Made in CHINA. The new MB was made in KOREA. So it looks like the panel lottery isn't the only lottery we're dealing with on Samsungs! I am all for outsourcing and taking advantage of production facilities outside the home country, but ONLY if quality control is maintained~!
Now, thankfully (knock on wood) the TV is 100% Korean (Powerboard, Motherboard, Panel) and working beautifully. Just so you know I certainly ran to Amazon and dropped a quick $100 on the extended 2 year warranty, just to be safe. I would recommend this to EVERYONE!
Samsung TV's are absolutely gorgeous when they work, but I will definitely remember this harrowing experience the next time I jump into researching a new TV. With pricing on TV's spiraling downward, there are numerous ways that manufacturers cut costs, with quality control being one of them. So be careful out there! And BTW, I would've given the TV 5 STARS had this not happened.
Lastly, here's my calibration settings for the TV in case you're interested! Remember, these are not going to "pop" like the TV's you see in Best Buy (which are way too bright!). They are, however, meant to ACCURATELY reproduce digital media like HDTV broadcasts and Blu-Ray. And trust me, once your TV is properly calibrated, you'll never want to go back to the old settings! It makes everything looks surreal!
Enjoy!

I had the 46" Samsung 1080p set and this one is better. I love it. The only problem I see is that I have to really turn up the volume when I'm playing a movie since I don't have a speaker system.

WOW......WHAT A GREAT VALUE!!
I am very happy with this television...in the beginning I had a problem with the color, but quickly learned how to make it right. Once we connected the HDMI cable the picture was beautiful and once we connected the surrond sound it was amazing. Never thought I would be able to afford an LCD television at this size for this price. Make sure you get the warranty it will be worth it. We had a projection television we purchased about 4 years ago, didn't get a extended warranty, stoped working about a year ago. You can't go wrong with this television, it is a nice quality televison at a great price. This is my first Samsung television, I have two Vizio's and they are good quality televison also.

Beautiful picture; looks great! Four and a half stars
Received this last week, and finally got it mounted on the wall. Little experience so far with set, but will say this: the picture is big, bright, and beautiful!! Can't comment on the sound yet, since I mostly pipe everything through the A/V receiver. You'll probably want to tweak the video settings to get it just the way you want.
Some notes to those who might be interested:
1. HDMI and other inputs are nearly flush with back panel, and perpendicular to screen, so if you plan to wall-mount this, you'll want 90-degree cables or spring for a bunch of 90-degree adapters. Otherwise, your cables will be kinked hard against the wall, making it extremely difficult to mount flat and impossible if you want to tilt it downward slightly. Not an issue if you plan to use it on its stand. However, there is one set of side-mounted inputs (HDMI and composite only), which alleviates this problem somewhat.
2. It might be just me, or the mounting arms, but the set was off-level after mounting (off by 0.4 degrees) even though the wall support bracket was measured as level to 0.0 degrees when installed (measured with a digital level). Hard to determine where the fault is; the bracket might have shifted after mounting, or the mounting holes on the set were originally slightly misaligned. Either way, will have to shim to level.
3. Set does not have S-video inputs, important for those who might want to connect any older S-video components.
4. Very stylish design. High gloss bezel, will look great in any room. Matte screen eliminates glare.
Might be the best value in basic 52" LCD name-brand sets. Does not have internet capabilities, LED back lighting, nor 120/240 Hz refresh rates, but it'll be hard to beat this TV for value. In spite of lacking the aforementioned features, the picture is very bright and beautiful, with little noticeable lag. This is an IMPRESSIVE television.

Really enjoying the experience
This is a great value and everyone loves the picture. It's got a sharp picture with fantastic color. I have made a few tweaks to get it how I like it (surprisingly found the tweaks I did on my own match almost exactly to the calibration settings recommended here by several reviewers). The sound is okay - but I agree with a lot of other reviewers that surround sound would make a vast improvement. I plan to get a new surround sound system soon - will not mess with the old system I have that has never worked right.
Delivery could not have been better. I got a call less than 48 hours after I had placed my order that they were ready to deliver. The delivery company was very accommodating to my schedule. We had extremely cold weather the day of delivery along with some bad roads; the company kept in contact with me to let me know when to expect delivery. Two men brought the TV in, unpacked it, set it up then explained they couldn't turn it on because of the extreme cold and advised me to wait at least 2 hours before I turned it on. I used that opportunity to go purchase an HDMI cable (not included, so be prepared if you don't have one) and a longer cable for my DVD player and was then AMAZED at the picture. Great product and fantastic service as usual from Amazon!

Great tv for the price
First of all, I would definitely recommend this tv. I debated for months between this tv and the LN52B630, but in the end the extra 60hz just wasn't worth the extra $$. It isn't a perfect tv, but at under $1,000 it gives you the best bang for the buck. Here's my take:
The good:
1. Only $960 as an open box item from Amazon's Warehouse Deals
2. 6 days between order and delivery
3. Delivery was hassle free and they helped set it up
4. Picture is amazing and was great right out of the box
The neutral:
1. The tv has a small line in the bottom left corner of the screen. It's behind the surface of the screen but it doesn't appear to be dead pixels. It's only about 1/2" long and as thin as a pencil line. That's what you get for buying a used, open-box item, but it is barely noticeable and doesn't affect our viewing experience in the slightest.
The bad:
1. Let's talk about the speakers...I read every review I could find on this tv before buying and I came to the conclusion that there are some audiophiles out there that need perfect audio. I am not such a person. I enjoy movies, watching tv, and playing a few games on my xbox, but as long as the audio isn't noticeably bad it's always been acceptable. That said, out of the box the speakers were ok...kind of hollow-sounding and tinny, but acceptable. Within a week they started sounding a little worse and started making a sort of vibration sound when you turn it up to regular volume. I wasn't going to get a speaker system right away, but I decided it couldn't wait anymore so I bought the Sony HTCT100 system (5 stars by the way) which solved the problem.
All in all I think that this tv is a great value. 120hz would be nice, but it isn't necessary. If you do decide to buy this tv, I'd go ahead and get an external audio system if you don't have one already.

Great TV!
I did a lot of shopping around before I bought this TV. Amazon.com had the very best price I could find, even including sales prices at other local stores. The shipping was fast and they brought the TV in and put it where we wanted it, so that was very convenient.
I was a little nervous about the "red touch of color" but it really isn't noticeable at all. That might be a positive or negative thing, depending on who is buying it.
The picture is crystal clear. The images are sharp and there are settings to adjust the brightness. There are also a few pre-set picture settings for movies, daytime, etc.
Another thing that worried me from my research was the quality of the speakers that come with the TV. We have surround sound, but I hate it so I normally just listen to the TV without it (I did the same with the TV we had before). I haven't noticed any problems with the speakers on the TV- they sound fine to me. I'm not sure if they have been improved with the newer models or if there really was never much of a problem to begin with and some people are just very picky about the sound quality.
In short, I would recommend this TV. I would absolutely buy it again. I think it was a great value for the quality.

Love my new flat screen!
Very impressed with the resolution and color on my new tv! I especially like the fact that there are plenty of ports for different hardware hook-ups and the pre-set screen features make it easy to find the best picture for what you are watching quickly.

Samsung 52" is amazing!
The picture is amazing when a 1080i or 1080p source is playing. It's like being in a movie theater. 720p is soft and 480p is softer and you can really see the difference of 1080i/1080p vs 720p and 480p on a screen this big.
Controls on the remote are pretty easy to understand. Color controls are very good. There are 3 settings depending on the ambient light and you can quickly switch from 1 to the other. Screen controls are also easy to understand and easy to switch back and forth from 16:9 to "wide fit/screen fit" depending on the signal.
The two things that I have a slight problem with are the connector tube to the stand and the design of the remote. The tube could be sturdier. The remote handle curves down and out (sort of like the old Star Trek phaser grip) and this causes the remote to drop off the coffee table onto the floor if you don't take the time to put it EXACTLY entirely on the table. Annoying when you just want to watch the show/movie/game.
The sound coming from the unit is good but I plan on hooking it up to a home theater system.
Overall, I think the Samsung is an excellent unit and purchasing from Amazon Warehouse is a fantastic way to save lots of money!
Samsung LCD HDTV
In early 2009 I purchased a LN52A550 LCD HDTV from Amazon which was delivered by Pilot trucking, who also set it up. At the time I noticed that some input jacks were not functioning but didn't complain until I got my wife a Wii and needed tmore jacks. A week later they replaced circuits so the jacks would work. Several weeks later the TV began turning itself on and off, requiring another warranty repair. More recently, on April 8, 2010, it was still turning itself on and off so I again called Samsung to schedule more repairs. At that time I was told both verbally and via several e-mails that the warranty covered it but that the warranty would soon expire on Apr. 30. On Apr. 23, not having heard from the repair people, I again called Samsung. They told me that the warranty had expired on Apr. 1 and that any repairs would be at my expense. When I pointed out that I had several e-mails from them stating that my warranty would not expire until Apr. 30 and that the e-mail's could be used as evidence in court, they put me on hold until finally agreeing that they would honor the Apr. 30 expiration date. I am very troubled by the fact that they backdated the warranty expiration in hopes that I would pay for the warranty repair. That was clearly illegal. I am also disturbed by the cronic failure of the TV. For tose reasons I will never buy another Samsung product nor recommend threm to anyone.

Great tv!
i would definatly recommend this tv to anyone looking for a quality tv at a good price. i purchased this tv about 2 months ago and it has been performing well.
pros-
definatly looks great. lots of inputs...and digital optical audio out for my z-5500 ss system. and price
cons-
sound. the speakers on the tv do not really put out too well. i have had the volume almost maxxed. it was loud but it did not sound clear. if you are going to spend $1200, why not $200 on audio???
all in all..great tv..great price. i am completed satisfied with my purchase!!
