Reviews of Samsung LN46B650 from Amazon.com

Beautiful picture, but a little strange with the styling

I love everything about this tv except the buttons. There are no actual buttons, just touch sensitive controls. This makes it a bit difficult to turn on or off, etc without the remote.

Other than the buttons the picture is beautiful (pop a blu-ray in and you'll see what I mean), and at the time I purchased it the technology for the dollar was unparalelled. I would say for people looking now you may want to consider the 240hz model for a little more or hold off and get the LED tvs coming out now. They are dropping in price, have even sharper picture, very light and thin, and use less electricity.

Blown away by the picture...great Amazon service

Look no further. If you like this tv and have been waiting to pull the trigger..wait no more. Keep track of the Amazon coupons and you can get it for a steal. The picture is so life-like even the cable guy was amazed. Not the best sound as most reviews had indicated but a TV like this is best complimented with a great home theater sound system (next purchase). Get the Mediabridge HDMI cables to go with it. Well worth the $10. Also picked up some component cables for the Wii. Looks like Tiger Woods and I will be playing lots of golf this winter....

ev

Ordered TV on Friday Oct.2 and received it on Monday Oct.5, how is this for Service.! Package was in good condition with no damage. Price was $ 200.00 cheaper than any other stores I have checked and I checked about 50 of them, and shipping was free. Picture resolution, colors and features, are excellent and easily outperform far higher priced competitors LCDTV's. I'f also purchased a Home Theater HT-Z420 from Samsung so that I can use one remote for the whole setup due to the Anynet+ feature of Samsung's electronic products. However it took some doing to make everything work together.
Here is what I have: Motorola DCH6200 Digital HD Cable Box, Samsung LN-46B650 LCDTV, Samsumg HT-Z420 Hometheater
Here is what I did:
Remove TV cable from Cable Box and install 2way splitter. Get 2 short TV Cables and install one cable from splitter to Cable Box and the second TV Cable from Splitter to your LCDTV. Install HDMI cable from Cable Box to HDMI 1 IN on your LCDTV. Now you can use your LCDTV remote for all standard TV channels and your Cable Box remote for HBO,Cinemax etc.
Connect all Speakers to your HT-Z420 Home Theater, Install HDMI Cable and Digital Optical Cable between your Hometheater. Since your Home Theater remote has more functions for you DVD player, it is preferable to use this remote instead of the LCDTV remote. If you use HDMI cable only between your Hometheater and your LCDTV, most likely you will not be able to use the Hometheater speakers when watching regular TV channels. At least mine did not work. Overall,I am extremely happy with the Samsung Products and will post more reviews down the road.

i am in love with a tv!?

for the price this is the best deal i couldve gotten (i paid $1,099 at Frys in store!!), i also am a huge samsung fan and they make top notch displays, the colors are great, easy to calibrate on my own with the DVE bluray hd essentials disc, the contrast and colors are awesome, 120hz is perfect for everything i watch, i'm seriously in the process of watching every bluray movie i own over again because it just looks THAT good in 1080p on this set, and even 1080i sources like Netflix HD instant watch look great from my xbox 360, the brightness and contrast also make it easy on the eye to watch, plus it has widgets! even connecting my macbook pro to the display looks great, and it has FOUR hdmi inputs! also my living room is pretty bright and i dont catch glare that easy as long as the window behind me is dark, light from the side doesnt effect the tv too much, i'm glad i waited for the price to go down, i still cant find it cheaper anywhere, and buy your hdmi cables at MONOPRICE! but seriously buy this tv, it is awesome

the only downside for me is the ToC red bezel (which is IN the actual frame, it's not something that turn on and off people, i dont know where you are getting that idea) it just doesnt really match with anything i got, luckily you cant even tell its there when youre watching the tv, there is also a little bit of glare, but like i said, if its off to the side it wont matter but if its behind you youll have to do something about that

the showroom and the settings they use at a store does not do this tv justice, it is twice as good in your living room, trust me

A great TV

Looked around and chose the Samsung. I made the right decision, this TV is great, awesome picture and easy to get to and change settings if you want to. Glad I went with Amazon too, they have the best prices, quick delivery and set up...

Samsung HDTV

I was somewhat skeptical about buying a large TV on the internet, primarily because of possible shipping problems. The delivery was handled very professionally. The delivery people were more than courteous: they removed the TV from the box, assembled the base, put the TV on the stand and made sure that it was working properly before they left. They carted off all the packaging and left me completely satisfied. The TV itself is outstanding. Great contrast. I had an excellent experience.

Great TV ... ready for number 2

We bought the Samsung LN46B650 about a year ago, after my spending months of checking reviews, looking at TV's in stores, and checking prices. We ended up with a great deal at Amazon (and with the 'white glove delivery service'), and have been thrilled with this TV ever since. We use it for regular and HD TV, movies ... both Blu-ray and regular DVD, as well as with an X-Box 360 and a Wii. I am constantly amazed at the picture quality. I have never regretted our purchase for a minute (and I often get "buyer's remorse"). I even checked prices for months afterward, and am still very happy with what we paid. I am so happy with the entire experience, that I am considering a second one. The price is a bit lower now, though Samsung obviously has both new 240hz TV's as well as LED TV's out. I'm not so convinced that I would notice improvements to what I already have ... so may end up with 2 LN46B650's in the house.

Poor Samsung service

Samsung LN46B650 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color
Bought this TV in August 2009 from Best Buy and it worked well for 3 months. Started having flashes of pink when changing channels and eventually vertical lines, like a barcode, appeared over screen. Also would get "ghost" images from previous channels. Called Samsung customer service and they sent a repairman from another state. This took about one week. He replaced the main board and an internal cable -- took only 15 minutes -- and the TV appeared fixed. Exactly 7 days later, the same problem re-occured. I called customer service AGAIN and said I wanted a new TV and they stated their policy is that there is a minimum of 3 service appointments needed before they would even consider product replacement. I wanted to speak with a supervisor but was told that was not possible. Unbelievable!! I told them this doesn't speak well of their customer service. We are again without use of this TV. The repairman called and said he is ordering a whole new screen and another main board but this will take another week or two, which is very aggravating. Incidentally, a friend of ours had problems with his new Samsung TV and had to go through numerous repair attempts, which failed, but eventually got a replacement. Still frustrating.

I did alot of research before purchasing a TV and Samsung seemed to be the top choice for quality. Maybe we just got a lemon and I understand that happens, but Samsung should be more considerate of their customers and replace a TV when needed without making us jump through hoops. So here we sit, unable to use the TV that we paid for, and hoping this next repair works. If not, another call to customer service and probably another "run around".

Comparision

I set out to get the best 46" LCD that I could get at the best possible price. After a lot of reading reviews online and visiting 5 stores and comparing all their LCDs, I narrowed in on Samsung LN46B640 (sure the 650 and 750 were better, but not at the price being asked for). Compared this model with Sony's V, W and XBR series as well. Just when I was ready to take this set home, a representative from a store alerted me to the performance of the plasma sets (he was not aware of my budget, likes/dislikes and my descision to get the specific LCD). Plasma? Are they not dead? Is the new thing not about LCDs and LEDs? Sure it is and they are just as great. However I now spent 5 hours in 1 hour sessions to compare a plasma set - Panasonic TC-P46S1 with my favorite LCD TV Samsung LN46B640. After looking at 5 different feeds (TV source material/channels) in 5 different stores, I was convinced that the Plasma set performced provided better color accuracy. The LCD was indeed good and provided a better a little better clarity but colors on Plasma were natural. Dark and natural green on plasma against Neon green on LCD. Snow on mountains was natural on plasma compared to a clorox white on LCD. LCD presented what I wanted to see, while the plasma set presented it more close to the natural color. I compared this with the 640, 650, 750 and Sony TVs I mentioned. You will find many websites that tell you that burn-in problem on Plasma is no longer an isssue and power consumption gap has also been narrowed down. For my usage power consumption was not a factor. Life of the set is also not an issue any more. Dynamic Contrast ratio and refresh rates, the two most talked about measurements are as follows for the ones I looked at; Plasma: 2Million:1 and 640 hertz, LCD: 80K:1 and 120hz. Again Dynamic Contrast ratio is very subjective term and you should trust your judgement when comparing models. Its only recently that the LCD sets are catching up to the plasma on the two specs, while the plasma is catching up with the LCD on the power consumption spec. Before you get carried away with these terms, see how it matters to your viewing. In the end, I purchased the Panasonic TC-P46S1 at $200 less than the LCD. However I would not have thought twice if I had to pay the same price for the plasma as the lcd. Reason behind writing this is, do not take any technology for what is being churned out by the marketing machines, media and the hype. Trust your eyes and experience only. If you are reading this, you are reviewing one of the models I had short listed. I am sure whatever you buy will be the best model and your decision. Good Luck.

Wonderful TV

I couldn't ask for a nicer TV than this. Completely satisfied with all aspects of it.

Good picture qality and lot of features for the best prices

Hi

I bought Samsung LN46B650 TV after exhaustive research and confusions :) ,Initially i was hesitant and speculative, but as I got to view different types of movies and picture I am very satisfied with my selection.
There is lot to this tv and I have barely scratched the surface in terms of feature utilization.
I preferred plasma for the natural colours, but opted LCD for the brightness and contrast level.
I would highly recommend this tv to consider it as an option while selecting a tv.

Great TV

As we searched for a TV, we kept upgraded based on other reviews. The TV we ended up with, the Samsung LN46B650, is awesome! We haven't had any problems. Some programs we watch make it look like the actors are actually in our living room. Next we'll have to get a blueray DVD player. (Just as a note, once we got the TV, the input information kept saying it wasn't at the 120hz. After some researching we realized the TV is always on 120hz even if the input from the cable box isn't.)

Best TV Ever

It has been almost a year since I bought this tv. I love it so much I would marry it if I could. Haven't had any issues (knock on wood). I bought it from Best Buy in Killeen Texas and bought the extended warranty so I wouldn't have to worry about failure. Awsome picture, user friendly, great sound. I would recommend this tv to anyone.

Gorgeous TV

We purchased this TV right before Christmas. Unfortunately the TV got stuck at the shipping warehouse for some reason. I was expecting it on Wed (12/17) and stayed home all day, nothing, then Thursday, again stayed home all day and nothing. Finally we called on Friday morning and were told it wouldn't be delivered til Tuesday (12/22), but we could pick it up ourselves. As I needed my husband to set it up on the weekend for Christmas we elected to drive the 45 minutes to the warehouse and get it ourselves. But this is not a review of the shipping, more so of the TV. WOW! This TV with the Blu-ray player is amazing! The colors are brilliant and the picture so clear you feel like you could just step into the picture. We initially had it hooked up to a non-HD cable box, the picture was really good, but we hooked it up to an HD DVR and it made all the difference in the world. The speakers are just "fine" not great, but we have a sound system hooked up, so that's a moot point. Didn't know what we were missing. I am now spoiled rotten and need to get one for the bedroom!

This purchase was a gift for our parents based on reviews on Amazon. Thanks for the help! They love the T.V.

Samsung 46 in LCD

Excellent picture. Well designed connections. Great flexibility in image sources. Internet and networking is fantastic, I can stream movies and music from internet and from other PCs on my home network. On screen controls and menu navigation requires some patience - with great flexibility comes some cost. Interconnection between Samsung TV and Samsung Blu-Ray is very good. Remote for each component controls entire system. One failing - when internal TV speakers are turned off, remotes for volume control do not work. I have a different brand receiver/amp and have to use a separate remote. Solution - update my audio system to a Samsung.

Model has 60 and 120 hz screen refresh. Picture is so sharp that I don't believe that I can tell the difference. My son (in film production) insists that I must use 24 fps refresh rate to watch movies since all film is 24 fps. So the extra money I paid for the 120 hz screen refresh for sharper high speed images (sports) is probably wasted. Essentially, the TV "invents" or extrapolates the extra frames from 24 fps (or 30 fps fr almost all video) to the higher screen refresh. At 60 there is essentially 1 "extra" frame, at 120 there are 4 "extra" frames invented by the screen refresh. I can see a difference between 24 and 60.

Looks like the refresh rate 60, 120, 240 is really a costly marketing "numbers" game.

Amazon price was excellent. Service especially at Christmas time was well above expected. Delivery (free) included delivery to the room, mounting and setup and packaging removal. Promotion also included a free Samsung Blu-Ray player. Total delivered package deal was much better (20 to 25% better) than local electronics, big box, and warehouse prices.

Samsung LN46B650 46" HDTV

This Samsung replaces a 40" Sony which was moved into the kitchen/dining area. Since it appears normal to lose a bit of sharpness as size increases, the Samsung is about the same for sharp detail as the 40" Sony so that is a plus for the Samsung. Color on the Samsung is excellent, perhaps its best feature, although the response time of the 120Hz is also excellent. The touch of color is a feature that I honestly don't understand as I don't notice it at all, which in my opinion means it has no particular value. The set is attractive and is clear and bright in all light conditions in our living room, and some of the seating means looking at the TV from an angle which poses no problem or complaints. Since I am not a technical expert on TV features I can only say that from a fairly discriminating homeowner and TV viewer the Samsung meets all my expectations. After seeing so much glowing advertising about the Samsung, it became an itch I just had to scratch. Now the itch is gone and I can settle down to just plain old TV enjoyment of ball games and the beauty of nature shows.

Shipping was totally satisfactory and the set and its carton arrived in perfect condition. I believe I trust the shipping from Amazon to be at least as careful as the regular shipping to any retail store, which I have observed from time to time as being the probable cause of "factory defects".

Excellent TV

I purchased this television after reading several reviews on C-Net, and am very happy I did. I was initially skeptical of the network features, but to my surprise I was able to stream almost all of my media to this TV using the newer build of PS3 Media Server running on a Linux server in the basement. Picture quality is excellent!

Paired with an Anynet(sp?) enabled Blu-Ray player has some sweet usability benefits. The ability to control/power down the Blu-Ray player from the television or have the television turn on/switch to the proper input/optimal display mode just by inserting a Blu-Ray disk into our Samsung BDP-1600 is priceless.

I look forward to next years model, hopefully the widgets will run a little bit quicker.

Excellant TV

This is the first LCD TV I've owned and at 46 inches the biggest. I love it but it seems somewhat dark sometimes even on the brightest setting. But other than that I recommend this TV highly.
(January 27, 2010)

True LCD experience, won't turn your head when game is on.

This is a great HD TV. 120 Hz is the real differentiator when you see the game in action. Touchdown, fumble, sack, long pass; you name it, it is clear. When I was seeing the game in my friend's home in a 60 Hz TV (some other brand), it was not as clear as this Samsung 120 Hz. You know the result; now I have to deal with the crowd. Movies, games and discovery channel are awesome in this. Colors are lively and sound quality is good. Make sure you have the HDMI cable to experience the HD quality.

I have n't tried the full home theatre and direct you tube connections.

Awesome LCD TV - Stunning Picture, Great Value

I purchased this Samsung LCD TV in December 2009 so have been enjoying it for about a month now. As everyone attests the HD picture is superb. Switching back between standard def and high def cbannels is like night and day. The remote is very funtionally laid out and easy to navigate. Our Wii game system looks fantastic on it and makes playing those games even better. DVD movies are sharp but should look even better when I decide on purhasing either a BD player or upconvert DVD player. Connectivity options are plentiful as you there are four HDMI inputs and switching sources is a breeze - the onscreen menu shows what is connected and you can edit the names of these too. This TV comes preloaded with "content" including children's stories, cooking recipes, and other items. As of 27 Jan 10, Samsung had not yet published any new content for downloading on their website. I did purchase the Samsung USB LAN adapter and it works well. It allows you to use the Internet TV feature which loads various widgets, including Yahoo weather, sports, finance, Videos, You Tube, CBS etc. As stated in previous reviews these are quite slow in loading but once loaded are fairly easy to navigate. While loading the picture reduces in size and the widget creates a window to the left side of the screen. The You Tube widget cuts off the channel you're watching and goes directly to full screen. In addition, once you load the included Samsung PC Share Manager Software CD on your pc and select picture/videos/music folders to share, you can stream these for viewing on the tv...nice! One of the best shall we say "Low-tech" features I really like about this TV is the swivel stand which allows you to of course swivel the tv in either direction..this is great to view the tv from our kitchen. Overall I'm quite pleased with this Samsung and would highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a new flat screen.

Great HDTV

Love this TV, I own higher end Sony's and this TV rates just as high and you can not beat the price at Amazon. Would recommend to anyone looking for a new HDTV.

A high-quality HDTV!

The Samsung LN46B650 blew away my expectation! I don't have Blu-Ray, but I do have high-def cable feed and it is gorgeous! Everything from movies to football looks crisp and clean. Discovery Channel was playing Planet Earth again and it looked amazing, particularly in terms of the colors. My brother brought over PS3 and Modern Warfare2 looks great, too, with no visible lag or signs of being overwhelmed. My laptop plugs in nicely and I was also able to browse the internet and play movies from there, too.

The only couple of nitpicks that I have is that sometimes the 120hz smooth motion can create artifacts and that sometimes, the audio sync is not spot on.

For me, the next purchase would be a Blu-Ray player and maybe that wireless Samsung ethernet connector. Any feedback or suggestions on either items??

Very Happy with Purchase

Have had this TV for about 8 months - and my wife and I have been very happy with the purchase. We love the USB ports - so we can easily watch downloaded movies and pictures from our computer on the TV - and they come out great! Amazon's delivery came in and set up the TV in our house - and it was easy to watch TV from day one. Very happy with HD quality....

Great TV at a great price

I got this television yesterday afternoon and had it hooked up to a blue-ray and Xbox 360 within an hour. The picture quality is absolutely amazing! The red TOC - though not great for everyone fits perfect in my room. The picture while watching SD channels is garbage, but any kind of digital or HD channel the picture is perfect. I noticed a few artifacts while watching an HD movie on a fast moving scene, but it was brief and did not distract.
I have not hooked up the internet with the set as of right now, but look forward to doing so soon.
The sound is perfect for my room.

In all, I am very happy with my purchase of the TV.

Amazon...you're the BEST!

I bought the Samsung LN46B550 originally and I was happy with it until I discovered the "60hz vs 120hz" difference. The B550 was only 60hz and I found out the higher model B650 is at 120hz. Wow, big picture quality difference!!! So I called Amazon customer service to return the B550 for the B650. The service was amazing. After one week, they picked up the LN46B550 and delivered the LN46B650 the same day. They refunded my original tv purchase within 2 weeks.

See this is one of many reasons why I buy everything through AMAZON. Returning an item w/ no problem - 5 stars!!!

Great Tv

Considering that I am what most people would consider to be a tight wad, it took a considerable effort for me to spend $1300 on a TV. After living with an 18" TV for 11 years, about 2 of which half the time I had to unplug it because it would not turn off, I decided it was time to get a new TV. I began by looking for used ones on Craigslist but finaly decided to bite the bullet and get a new one. I spent months comparing reviews online and comparing in stores. I had it narrowed to the Vizio SV471XVT, mainly because it seemed like a lot of bang for the buck, the Sony Bravia KDL-46V5100 and this of Samsung LN46B650. I had pretty much decided on the Vizio but, if I was going to spend around $1000 on anything, I wanted to see one in person. This turned out to be a futile effort. I found lesser and smaller models at Wal Mart and Costco, but not this one. This made me begin to look at spending the extra money for the Samsung or the Sony. Again I spent hours staring at these Tv's in Best Buy, Sears, and Fry's. Even though the sales people were all pretty much in agreement that the Sony had a clearer picture, I fell in love with the picture on this TV. It is simply fantastic. I do believe that part of the great picture comes from the glossy screen, so this should be kept in mind when looking at this TV. I ended up putting good quality curtains in my living room to fight reflection. It is still worth it. The picture is that good. I also like the fact that the set up of all the settings, there are many, is fairly intuitive and I was able to figure it all out in an afternon. I realy like all of the customizable settings. If there is anything that I could say that could be improved on this TV, it is the automatic volume control that is supposed to level the volume of comercials. I have found that, with this feature turned on, movies or shows that have a wide range of volume levels from action to dialogue, it tries to level it out and it can be a bit annoying. My only other thought is that the inputs on the back of the TV and the power cord should be on the same side. This would make hiding the cables when it is wall mounted a bit easier.I also decided to spend the money on the Monster Home Theater PowerCenter(tm) HTS 1000 MKIII with Clean Power(tm) Stage 2 that has line conditioning. I actualy got this before my TV was delivered and noticed a better quality picture even on my old TV. And besides, if I was spending $1300 on a TV, spending $100 to protect it seemed very reasonable.

This is the good one but .......

I purchased this product and had to return it becuase the one i got had a huge crack on the screen and they did not have another one in the stock. Thats the reason i gave 3 stars otherwise i would have given 5 stars.

LOSING PICTURE

Purchased this Samsung unit Dec. 22, 2009 and installed it the same day. Great picture right out of the box. Seven days later, picture suddenly changed to a group of red and green horizonal lines with a cream colored background. Sound worked, channels worked, everything seemed to work except no image. Turned TV off and back on to a near perfect picture. Next eight weeks this annoying glich occurred fifteen times. A call to Samsung got a service appointment by a local repairman. He arrived and in less than fifteen minutes replaced two of the main components of the TV and said it was fixed. He had seen the same problem before and knew what to do. If it happens again it will not be the TV set, I was assured. The same problem occurred three times within a twelve hour period after the repairman departed. I called the repairman and told him that the same thing was still happening. He said he would call Samsung and relay my service information to their technical people. Still having same problem hoping that the TV does not quit altogether. Be prepared for this type problem if you choose to purchase this TV as there is some sort of internal problem with this unit that Samsung is either not capable of repairing or they just don't care.

Great Product!

I spent a period of months reading owner reviews and techy comments about which LCD tv to purchase, what was hooked up to them, how difficult they were to operate.....or not and so on and so on and so on.....watched and noted brands in sports bars, public buildings and friends homes. On a price and feature basis the Samsung was more than comparable to Vizio or LG models both of which I had considered and checked out at multiple stores. After reviewing and discussing the ever changing state of the art of LCD, LED, Plasma, 60,120,240 Hz, 2D, 3D, etc., etc. feature rich and not so feature rich technology, I went witht the Samsung.......no regrets; have had it just about 60 days, watched the 2010 Olympics and Super Bowl on it......Awesome! Plugged in the power cord, hooked up the cable connnection (sorry not at the cable box level, just the basic service), auto programmed the channels and have enjoyed it immensely. No complaints about the quality, color or detail of images. Very, very pleased we followed the "tv size for room size recommendations" as a 42" would have been to small. For all of you out there who take the time to share the tech speak and practical experience on these things.....Thank you!

Used? How can you tell?

I bought this set a week ago from amazon warehouse as Used-Good condition. Being cautious, I also bought the extended warranty to back up my purchase. Before I bought the set, I checked out the ALLEGED faults in the used warehouse deal category. My wife, (very, very particular about buying used and a major factor in the warranty purchase) and I have looked for the past week for any and I do mean ANY flaw in the unit and to date have found absolutely no reason whatsoever for this set being listed as Used - Good as its condition. The box had been opened, but in no way was it apparent the unit had ever been lifted from it.
Now for the picture and features: I don't even have cable and the over-the-air digital picture is absolutely breathtaking. PS3 and Blu-ray images make me feel voyeuristic. The only disappointment is the Netflix connectivity through this unit is not possible. I didn't miss out entirely, however because Netflix connectivity is possible through my son's PS3 with a free Netflix disc from Netflix. I haven't finished exploring all the unit's features, but it would be a lie to give this any less than 5 stars. Also, shipping was incredibly fast and I got it to Louisville, Kentucky from Pennsylvania in two days. Just in time to watch the NCAA tourney first round. Thank you, THANK YOU, THANK YOU !!!

Samsung HD LCD Televisions Rock!

Bought this television in February, wanted to have a chance to use it for two months before writing this review. Most the previous reviewers have covered the technical aspects and features with using this television so I won't bore you repeating what has already been said. Bottomline, this is a great television, way ahead of the competition. The picture is stunning as are the colors.I have been a Sony fan in the past, but this television clearly beats out Sony,LG, Toshiba, Vizio, many others. Amazon had the best price I have seen for this television beating out big box retailers, Sams etc.

Buying a television from an internet retailer was a big concern for me due to shipping and handling concerns of a large, delicate item like this. However, after reading a few other reviews on shipping, I went with Amazon who uses a special carrier, Ceva Logistics. The television arrived in perfect condition, no visible damage to the box, the driver brought the television in the house, unpacked it and wanted to ensure the television worked, no cracked screen, dings or dents. No issues found. All in all a great purchase and television. Go Samsung!

Amazing as expected

I just had to write a bad review about the same size Sony Bravia and it was pretty painful. I traded it for this knowing it would be better, but not knowing how much better. The picture is just amazing right out of the box, i made a few adjustments with the smoothing, and a few other things just to suit myself. Right away i viewed some trialers, Iron Man 2, Shrek 4, How to Train Your Dragon, and a few other things, and the difference is just like night and day. There is no grainyness to the picture what so ever, the smoothing is flawless and the sound is well, almost TO loud depending on how you fix it up. But hey i'd rather have to much volume than not enough. I got this bad boy on clearance at Best Buy for 1199$, regular price was 1899$, showing its definitely a higher end model TV, even if its not this years model. So stay away from the Sony Bravias and if you try to compare them, don't bother, the Vizios i have seen people have even far surpass the Sony, and even though i'm a huge fan of them i just can't believe how bad the Bravia i purchased was. So stick with Samsung folks, i remember back in about 2007 when the LCDs really started getting big and i saw a Samsung for the first time right next to a few others. I told my wife at the time wow look at the difference in the quality of this compared to the others, she was pretty mistified herself, which was unusual. These Tv's are rated number 1 for a reason, and when you pop it out of the box and feast your eyes on everything from Blu rays to HD tv channels to games, you'll see why they are so. Now lets just hope reliability wise it lasts. Later.:D

simply amazing~~~

i have had this tv for over a month now...
the only complaint i have is that the quality is so good that it makes me watch more tv...
some hd movies shown in premium channels look as good as blue ray...
this is a piece of beauty...

Samsung = Superb quality!

Amazing quality picture @ 100,000:1 contrast ratio.
The sound quality is OK (i have mine connected to a surround sound system) but the sound that comes with the TV is actually pretty good.
If you're a gamer you can play games with no noticeable lag (I play rockband and Modern Warfare 2 with no issues at all).
If you are thinking in buying a LCD HDTV, its a no brainer...choose Samsung!

Bought it in Feb 2010. Extremely satisfied. It is one of the best TVs out there for a decent price.
Thanks.
