Samsung LN26B460 26" LCD HDTV 26-inch 60Hz 720p LCD HD Television

We originally saw this TV at Bestbuy with a price of $399.99 (March or April 2009). We weren't sure if it would fit in the space we had so we got measurements and went home. We were also hoping they would have the TV on sale. Lo, and behold, it went up in price $130.00!!! We watched for months for someone to have it on sale again. The picture is wonderful and, so far, we haven't run into any problems with the functions.

Bought last year's model from Amazon in July 2008 (LN26A450C). Worked great until last week (a little over one year...now out of warranty). Now, the power standby light is on, but the TV will not turn on when the power button is pushed. Also won't turn on when the remote power button is pressed. Picture was great until this happened. Samsung website says component has failed and it must be serviced. Probably more money to fix the problem, than just by a new one. I have Samsung computer monitors and another 40 inch LCD TV. All have been ok. Oh well, live and learn. I may try Sony next time.

I had this LCD for 13 months and then one day it just blanked out. When I turned it back on it would come on for about 2 minutes (no picture) and then turn itself off. I took it back to Best Buy who said it was out of Warranty by one month but agreed to send it in for repair at my cost. I received a call from the repair Dept a few days ago who quoted me a price of $399. They said the main board was burned up. I paid @ $600 for this TV 13 months ago and now you can buy the same Samsung LCD for @ $400. Needless to say that I will not be repairing this TV. Anyone need a 26" doorstop? I have put my digital 2o" Sony back in service (that I've had for 10 years) and it's doing fine. I will say that the Samsung did have a nice picture while it lasted.

I wanted a larger TV for my kitchen and a 26" screen seemed to be the solution. This TV has a nice picture (great on near-high def, over the air digital transmission) and OK sound.

Like other Samsung TVs (I have three) it looks and feels like a quality product. The only downside is sound and that is mostly a volume issue. Kitchen TVs are more often stand alone and the volumn and quality has to come from the TV. If better sound is needed a sound bar would provide a small space, great improvement.

Samsung makes highly rated TVs for a reason . . . they perform.

This is a great television for a bedroom or den. It works well as a computer monitor also. I was a little surprised when I opened the package and found out that the base of this model is different from the base pictured in the Amazon photo. The base pictured is transparent. This matches the transparent bezel that spans the base of this LCD. The one that I received has a solid black base that matches the piano black finish of the rest of the set. An attractive unit overall, but would have looked better with the transparent base. This set is surprisingly easy to set up and use. The included remote is well planned and easy to use. (not cluttered with alot of unnecessary buttons) Outstanding picture quality even without an HD signal. Standard cable signal is beautifully reproduced on this item. I hooked up a Samsung Blu-ray player and was totally impressed with the HD picture. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who is looking for Samsung quality at an attractive price.

BOUGHT THE SAMSUNG LN26B460 @ MY LOCAL BEST BUY , BROUGHT IT HOME AND OPENED IT AS IF I WERE AN 8 YEAR OLD ON CHRISTMAS DAY (I'M 45). HOOKED IT UP , TWEAKED IT AND HAD IT RUNNING IN LESS THAN 20 MINUTES. FIRST THING I DID WAS TURNED ON MY SLIM PS3 , INSERT THE MOVIE "UP" FROM DISNEY BLUERAY AND AS SOON AS THE MOVIE STARTED I ALMOST CRIED! IT WAS IF I WAS LOOKING @ A FULL 1080P ON A PLASMA. THE PICTURE WAS CLEAR AND THE SOUND WAS AMAZING!! I HAVE IT HOOKED UP TO MY LOGITECH Z5500 VIA OPTICAL. DISH NETWORK HD LOOKS GOOD ALSO AND CAN'T WAIT TO SEE MY FIRST SAN JOSE SHARKS GAME ON IT!! ONLY DOWNSIDE IS THAT I GOT THE BLACK BASE AND NOT THE SEE THRU ONE AS PICTURED ON BESTBUYS WEBSITE. BUT OTHER THAN THAT I WILL BE WATCHING ALOT OF BLUERAYS ON THIS BABY!! IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A 26IN. I bought this for the bedroom and wanted to keep it simple. Like most other reviewers - nice picture if you are not too far off vertical or horizontal. Internal speaker sound is poor. I tried using the headphone out jack into Boston Acoustic computer speakers and even with that setup it was difficult to get decent sound. Oddly, when you use the headphone out jack the tv senses it and then will not let you use the equalizer adjustment (it is grayed out). I think you can set the eq on the internal speakers and then plug into the headphone jack. I am trying to use a single remote and still have all of the tv functions including volume control. The L-R Audio Out and the optical out are fixed levels so you would have to use another remote to adjust volume.
The biggest downside for me is the inability to assign channel names or call letters. I use the C*cast cable system (without their box) so when Samsung autoprogram is performed all the stations are picked up as 4-1, 5-2, 89-3, etc. A few have call letters assigned but most do not. So it is unknown where CNN, TNT, etc are located until you manually select each channel, verify what you are seeing (CNN, TNT, etc) and then write them down. Samsung states in the User Manual "The names of digital broadcasting channels are automatically assigned and cannot be labeled." I don't know why they say this because it is just not true. Competing products do allow you to key in the names. My problem was that I could not find a 26" tv that I could key in the names and had a headphone out jack. The tv just needs to be thought out a little more.

Having tested side by side this model of samsung and the entry level sony I can say without a doubt the sony is better. I was disapointed for this to be the case because honestly, I wanted and expected the samsung to be better. The colors while bright and intense overall were not better than the sony. Every single movie i played in blu ray or standard dvd needed to have adjustments made to look normal. I would say about 75% of the movies I tried looked better on the samsung but 25% looked bad and unrealistic. The sony over all beats it hands down on all material. It may not be as sharp and vibrant, but over all it looks more natural and realistic and better for upscaled movies than the samsung. I spent many hours trying to calibrate this tv and just couldnt come up with any happy medium. While the black levels were deeper, the contrast was worse, ie, if it was dark on the samsung, it looks great, but when it was dark, it was over dark, and scenes in movies like the matrix or batman returns just looked unrealistic. I tried everything to correct this with the settings but no happy medium could be found. Go with the cheaper sony, and samsung, stop setting your tvs to look good in a bright showroom and spend some time getting them to look good in a dark bedroom where they will end up. oh did i mention the sound is really bad compared to the sony, especially when using the output from the tv to drive a small left and right speaker, the sound was a few milliseconds behind that of the tv speakers and you could hear a pronounced delay which was unacceptable. this does not occur on the sonys output. Now if you compare the same models in the 32 inch versions, the samsung is a much better tv

The timer function does not work properly when the TV is attached to a cable box. When the timer turns the set on it flips to the "TV" input source so all i get is snow. i have to manually change it to get reception on the cable . I bought this set for my bedroom and want to use it as an alarm clock so this is a significant defect. It is a nuisance. Samsung should include a disclaimer in their advertising and set up material. i had to talk to 3 people at Samsung before they would admit to this problem.

I mounted this TV to the wall in our kitchen and connected it to our cable. Picture is super, visitors usual remark is "WOW". We have a Vizio 50" Plasma in the living room that we have been real happy with but have to admit newer Samsung LCD has a better picture, sharpness and color. Would recommend to anyone.

This TV is great! No complaints whatsoever. It was well worthwhile to buy a high quality coaxial cable. This TV, as most, doesn't come with one. I hooked it up with a regular cable and the picture was very good. It improved noticeably with a heavier cable with gold RCA plugs. The Samsung LN26B360 was $60 less and the manufacturer claimed the picture was just as good. It was on back order when I bought the LN26B460. I wanted it right away. Cosmetically, the 460 is superior.

I purchased this TV as a gift for my mother. I have since purchased a similar Samsung for myself. Great menu style, great picture, great price. I highly recommend this product.

WE'VE HAD THE SET FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS NOW AND ARE MOST SATISFIED WITH IT. IT REPLACED AN OLD 15 YEAR ANALOG SET. I'M NOT A GEEK, HAVE LIMITED TECHNICAL SKILLS OR UNDERSTANDING OF SUCH AND SIMPLY WANTED A DIGITAL HDTV THAT OFFERED GOOD HD PICTURE AND SOUND. WE'RE VERY SATISFIED WITH BOTH. I DID A LOT OF RESEARCH COMPARING MANUFACTURERS AND PRICES AND FOR THE MONEY, AFTER READING MANY REVIEWS, THIS SEEMED A GOOD CHOICE. IT WAS. THE PICTURE IS EXCELLENT AND THE SOUND IS AS WELL. MANY REVIEWERS SAID THEY WERE DISAPPOINTED IN THE SOUND, NOT ME, I THINK IT'S EXCELLENT. WE GOT OURS FOR ABOUT $360. FOR THIS AMOUNT IT'S A REALLY GOOD VALUE, PROBABLY WORTH MORE.

I have purchased the 32 inch Samsung and needed a TV for the bedroom..this is perfect!!..The Samsung picture is bright and clear....colors and blacks are sharp!!!..easy to use with HDMI cable..get one on Amazon and save a few bucks!!

Great TV...no problems..yet!

I had already been extremely happy with the previous Samsung LCD HD television that I bought several years ago for my living room. So when I needed a smaller one for the bedroom, I didn't hesitate to buy Samsung again.
Although I only get the digital, high definition cable in my living room through my DVR, I was pleased with the basic cable picture on this 26-inch tv in my bedroom.
What surprised me most was that the over-the-air channels were received so well. I guess there is a great internal antenna, because in addition to the basic cable channels, I also receive all of the local broadcast high-definition channels with perfect clarity, plus I get the other secondary standard definition broadcast channels, too.
When I ran the auto-program, I had no idea I would get those local broadcast channels so well, but they are great. When I wanted to receive the broadcast channels on my other older Samsung tv, I had to connect a table-top antenna in order to pull in those same broadcast signals.
I appreciate the 3 hdmi, component and composite inputs, too.
The size is perfect for the bedroom, and the picture is beautiful.
The only (expected) downside is the sound. Samsung tv speakers are always a disappointment. I bought a sound bar for my larger tv in the living room, but for the bedroom, these speakers are okay. Not great, but okay.

The samsung LN26B460 26 720 LCD is a perfect fit for a small bedroom. It was very easy to hook up. Doesn't overwhelm the room. Ordered on a Sunday night and had it by Tuesday! I even like it better then my older 1080 40" samsung TV.

I purchased this tv for my Mom to replace a Panasonic crt. I can also compare it to two far more expensive tv's I have (Sony and Panasonic).

Its an ok tv for the price but lacks a lot of simple features that make it difficult to operate. As far as pic quality goes, its good on hd and poor on sd. Compared to the above three tv's, the pic quality is a distant 4th.

The biggest issue is the control set. The tv does not auto-detect inputs and does not auto-detect video size. As a result, you constantly have to fiddle with the remote. For the cost of a few lines of writing code, the tv could be a lot simpler to use. I have not owned a tv in 15 years that can't do this. We tried with both component and hdmi inputs and with a Samsung dvd player (purchased to see if it would auto-detect, nope, returned a day after we bought it).

I would not purchase this tv again. While I can't compare it to other low cost sets, I can't believe the poor controls are the norm in its price bracket.

The base is different from what is pictured and described. Instead of the cool looking square base, I received a basic black plastic oval-shaped base. The neck is NOT transparent. A slight disappointment.

Otherwise, excellent TV. Since it is just a bedroom TV, I can live with the boring base.

Got it for $329 with free shipping in late Feb 2010 right here at Amazon, so if the price says $399 as it does now (March 4, 2010), know that you can do better!

I purchased this TV for my bedroom and it is a really great product. Picture quality is very nice and is just the right size for a smaller room like a bedroom. If you are using it for games, like I am however, the HDMI input for the 360 produces a jagged picture in game because the native resolution of this TV is slightly higher than 720p. I suggest using a VGA cable for the Xbox 360 so that there is no scaling of the image. I know from experience that his works slightly better.

Purchased this TV (thankful for the Warehouse Club's return policy) in time to watch the last of the Winter Olympics. The setup to the existing DirecTV HD DVR box was easy, since it was replacing a similar but older Panasonic 26" set. First, the positives about the set. I have a limited space in the bedroom because of a built-in arrangement, so a 26" is about the largest class of TV that will fit in the space. It's light and nimble, east to carry and place into that space, and the on-screen setup was straightforward if perhaps a bit lacking in particulars (doesn't allow manual fine-tuning adjustments to size, which I'll cover momentarily). Picture quality was very good for a 26" set, though I noticed negligible difference between the 720p set it replaced and this as a 1080p set. I'm told this is mostly due to size, and truly matters above 32". Now for the negatives. (1) It "feels" cheap. The lightness and sheer amount of plastic in the set is both a positive and negative, so the controls and stand mount felt cheap. Given the price, I didn't expect much, but did expect a somewhat higher grade of quality. (2) Sound. Tinny. Like listening to an old transistor radio. I had to over-boost the bass setting to help it along, but it never came close to matching the Panasonic. The bottom-mount speakers are too small and underpowered to do much more than the sound they produce, which is in a word, terrible. (3) Size adjustments. No matter what setting I tried, it left black bands at the top and bottom of the screen in HD mode. Checked all my settings, read the manual, found no way of ridding myself of it other than to do "Wide-Zoom" mode, which cuts off the left and right sides of the picture, and part of the on-screen DirecTV menus. All-in-all, it's a somewhat passable set for the $300 range, but you'd do as well if not better with a 720p set at this size that produced better sound and picture adjustments (the Sony Bravia KD26L5000 I found on closeout was far superior in all aspects). For a budget conscious consumer, this might work and be passable if sound quality wasn't a concern but BlueRay was, and space was a premium. I was happy to return this to place of purchase, and would think twice about a Samsung in the future.

Yo fui un asiduo comprador de la marca SONY hasta que compre un pequeño tele samsung para la cocina, vi que el tv me daba lo mismo que el tv sony de 46 pulgadas y entonces fue que compre otro tele samsung de 42 pulgadas por la mitad de lo que me costo el sony y de ahi quede enganchado con la marca. Este tele samsung que compre ahora es para remplazar al pequeño tele y se ve excelente, me levanta a 1080p cuando le conecto el play 3 y en canales digitales se ve impresionante. lo recomiendo
