Great TV with one minor annoyance...
I have owned this TV for several months, and definitely enjoy the picture size and quality. As many people have pointed out, the default sound settings are not very good, but you can improve them by modifying the settings or hooking the TV up to an A/V receiver. The only problem I have with the TV is when hooked up via HDMI, when I change inputs (DVR to DVD player) or even change channels where the resolution changes (720p to 1080i), there is delay where the screen goes black and a "Searching for Signals" message appears. Occasionally during this process is an audible pop. I don't fully know the reason for this, but after searching on the internet, it has something to do with the "HDMI handshake". Regardless, the solution is to just hit mute when changing inputs. This can be annoying and detracts from my enjoyment of the TV; that's why it is getting four stars.

Awesome
I have owned this TV for going on a year now. It has been fantastic. The picture quality is insanely clear. I've watched plenty of fast action sports and could not discern any "motion blur" whatsoever. There's literally tons of info on the internet as how to tweak the color settings in the TV's menus to make it really pop out and to save you some life out of the set. The set itself is really beautiful as well. We've had tons of compliments on the asthetics and piano finish. Overall a fantastic buy..especially at what it is now compared to when I bought mine. Good luck and happy viewing.

Warranty Service Stinks
The vast majority of the reviews I read about this model were accurate: great picture, ok sound, nice features, etc. Unfortunately the model was too new to reveal its reliablility problems. Mine failed after 5 months of use and Samsung Warranty Services has been useless in resolving the problem. They referred me to a service center 60 miles away from me (I have now found one 10 minutes away - wish me luck) and these guys had my set for 6 weeks before claiming that they couldn't duplicate the problem??!!! They SAW the problem in my house, took it and then sat on it for 6 weeks. I called Samsung customer (dis)-service and they did nothing for me. The phone rep said it was between me and the repair company. I tried explaining that the repair company didn't know what they were doing after 6 weeks of futility, but to no avail. I can understand that things break, but the lack of warranty support from Samsung was absolutely amazing considering it was a nearly $2000 purchase. Go ahead and buy this TV, but pray that it doesn't break.

NICE QUALITY TV
This tv has an outstanding picture! All functions were easy to operate.
Setting up the picture quality was a lot easier than I was led to believe.
The only knock I have against this tv is the sound system.Very mediocre.
Since I am am using a seperate sound system anyway this problem is not
really an issue for me.I would suggest anyone purchasing this tv to consider
doing the same, but otherwise a tv well worth the money!

Beautiful picture
I purchased this television in February of 2008 after doing weeks of research and comparing the picture quality to other HDTVs in store.
I could not be happier with this television. I have had it for over a year and it has survived two moves, and a toddler spilling a drink down the front of the LCD screen.
Once you view an action movie or a sports game on this Samsung, you will never be able to stand watching it on a lesser quality television. If you are a serious gamer, you will fall in love with the resolution, clarity and smooth motion.
If you are in the market for an LCD HDTV, you must buy a Samsung! I cannot wait until I can buy the Samsung LN32B550 32-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color to use in my bedroom for movie watching and as a computer monitor.

Smart decision
Everything in great working condition. I was concerned about sound because I live on the water. Sound is awesome.
I am big sports fan and heard concerns about 60HZ vs upgraded models. I am very happy with model and purchase was a very good move.

Great Television, Great Value
I bought this television on Black Friday 2008 at Black Friday prices which included a free Samsung Blu-Ray player. Over a year later and two moves, the television still has a great picture and a great appearance. In fact I have purchased 2 other Samsung 550 series televisions for my parents and they love the picture also.

Great TV For The Price!
I've had this TV for about a year now, and there are no problems whatsoever. Picture quality is awesome. HD comes out crystal clear. Before purchasing this TV, I looked at the 6 and 7 series, Sony XBR8, and some plasmas. All had very good picture quality, but not enough to be worth the extra hundreds of dollars. I watch mostly sports, and a lot of people say that the 60 hz isn't optimal for it. I think it's fine. The lag isn't very noticeable unless you compare it side by side.
Sound quality is pretty good considering that they're TV speakers. At factory settings, they were a little mid-y, but it can easily be adjusted through the menu to produce decent sounding speakers. If you want the best sound, you shouldn't be listening through a TV anyway. So for what it is, the sound is pretty good.
Features-wise, the 550 is much more limited than the 750, but I figured I'm not going to do much with the TV besides watching it. I think one neat feature of the 750 is that it can be hooked up through a LAN so that your computers can communicate with your TV. I don't really need that though, so the 550 was perfect for my purposes.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase. This is one of Samsung's cheapest, full 1080p TVs out. I recommend it to anyone that's looking for a TV, but is on a budget.
