The only thing about this set is the remote. Its a basic remote with nothing but the TV's controls. It should do more. But thats all thats wrong with this set. It is truly Great!

Fantastic TV
I have had this TV now for about a week----everything about it is great---I see no downside to this TV--the dynamic contrast ratio made me choose this bad boy----out of the box with very little knowledge I was able to set up my surround system with this 55 inch monster---I researched a bunch of TV's and this by far was the best deal I could find and with the 12months no interest no payment sold me---the unit took about 5 days to arrive but with the white glove service it was out of the box and in my living room within minutes of it arriving at my house----I can hardly wait for hockey season to start----

GREAT TV... UNBELIEVABLE price!!
I have had the TV now for 3 days and absolutely LOVE it. I paid roughly $100 more for this TV than the 120Hz 52" that WM and Target offer. IT took roughly 4 days to get here. This IS the best deal I have found for a SUPERB television!

Looks good - HD Picture is great - minor Lip Synch issues
After a bumpy but eventual reciept of the TV, we were happy with the end product. It looks really nice and the picture on HD channels and Blue Ray is incredible. The refresh rate can sometimes not catch up with the action on the TV and you can see some blur of the figure, but that is very infrequent. Non HD channels are pretty grainy depending on the channel and program - part of that is comparing HD to non HD. I am working with LG on the lip synch issue with certain channels where the audio is behind the video - apparently this is common. They are sending me a software update to address the problem...we'll see if that works. Otherwise the price was right ($1680) and the TV looks great hanging on the wall!

Excellent TV for the money, video is only as clear as the source
I agree with some of the other reviews, picture on Blu-Ray is amazing. The price point of the television makes it hard to justify an LED right now. This TV is less than half the price of an LED and the quality is on par. Off angle viewing is a bit dim, but for the money, it is not a factor.
I have an LG blu-ray player with a $[..] HDMI cable (thank you Amazon!) and the two complement each other perfectly. The DVD remote works with the TV and vice versa. Only negative is with a TV this big, if your video source isn't perfect you will see it for sure. For example I stream Netflix and the picture can be blurry at times.
Bottom line, with a TV this big, don't even bother watching something unless it is HD quality. Do your self a favor, buy this TV, only use HDMI (cheap ones on Amazon) and set a time limit, the TV is addictive! Enjoy.

Lip sync issue, not getting resolved quickly
The TV looked great, but quickly we noticed that any sound on the HDMI ports were delayed by about half a second. I contact LG support and they acknowledged that it needed the "lip sync" upgrade and told me someone locally would be in contact within 7-10 business days to schedule a repair. We're now 15 business days after that date and no local contact. I contact LG again, they apologized but said it would be processed within another 10-14 business days. I will post an update if/when this fix is installed and whether it truly fixes the issue. I'm not sure how a company continutes to ship a TV this expensive with a fault that obvious.
My recommendation is to find an alternative at this point due to poor support.

Great Buy
This is a great buy. I priced the LG 50-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV at Best buy near me and it was on sale for the same price as this 55 inch 240 hz. At best buy I would have also had taxes and they wanted 179.00 for shipping. The Picture Quality is excellent and my cable provider is broadcasting in 1080i. I can't wait to see it when broadcasting in 1080p. The Delivery company was very professional, they brought it into my home and waited until I inspected everything. I will definitely look on Amazon.com again when ready to make other purchases. Very Happy with everything.

Amazing LCD, nothing bad about this set.
I've had my 55LH55 for a few days now and its everything I hoped it'd be. HD tv, PS3 and blue ray are all crisp and extremly responsive. I have not had any issue with the lip-sync issue that others are having. It may be due to the fact that I upgraded my HDMI cables to 1.3(which you should do anyway and for the price on Amazon.com you'd be foolish not to). As for the sound it could be a little better, but for a LCD sound system it's not that bad. To be honest though why would you buy this kind of set and not hook it up to 5.1 or 7.1 surround system.
Bottom line is the LG 55LH55 is the LCD you are looking for if you want a mind blowing picture, without blowing a hole in your pocket.

Buy this TV
Just bought this and received it this week from Amazon. Delivery was thorough and they made sure it worked before they would leave.
Picture quality is better than I thought it would be. Better than any plasma I've seen. I knew it would be good with the 240hz but it is really really good! I ran thru it's own calibration on set up so no need to pay Best Buy $300 for that, what a joke that is. And, be sure to buy the 1.3 HDMI cables to ensure a quality signal, I run mine off of a Direct HD DVR. I bought the cables from Amazon supercheap plus a metal cheetah mount for less than $100 for two cables and the mount!
This TV is a steal for the price and the quality. The blacks are super dark, the colors vibrant and picture is clear as a bell. HD the way it is meant to be seen.

Best TV Ever!
From ordering the TV to the delivery and setup, this was the easiest purchase! The price was right and the quality is outstanding. We read other reviews that claimed to have sound issues but ours couldn't be better. This picture is amazing, and when watching a blu ray disc you feel like you're standing right there! The HD channels come through with true clarity and even regular channels look great. All in all, we decided that our old tv might as well have been in black in white because this one is really that awesome!!

The Best Deal Going
I use to under estimate LG, not anymore, great sets, great prices, and work so well as a pc monitor. I will never buy another brand again. They are fabulous, and the prices are good, the picture is amazing! VERY PLEASED. Game on it, ues it for anything that needs a display, and it will shine!

Great 55inch for Price but could use more contrast
We really like this TV. Sound is good with no lip synch issues as described with other LG TVs. The picture is great with HD content and I think the cable channels need to catch up to LCD/LED technology.
The blacks could be blacker but the overall experience is great!

Very Good Buy
After deciding on a 55" TV, and a lot of research on LG, Sony, Samsung, Toshiba, and Panasonic LCD (with and without LED); and, evaluating them at Best Buy and a local discount appliance store, I purchased the LG 55LH55.
The plasma screen picture was better and I would have selected it but it was highly reflective and would not have worked in my location. I think the Samsung LCD may have a brighter picture also, but again, it had too much reflection, as did all the others, except Sony.
After comparing the Sony and LG, both LED and not, I could not see the difference. Had they been closer in price, I would have bought the Sony just on their reputation.
In deciding between the LH90 and LH55, I was surprised the 55LH90 LED did not look any better than the LH55 and may have been slightly worse, not quite as bright, at two store locations.
I could not tell the difference in the sound quality of them either, or the Sony. They are all adequate and if you want good, you have to buy a stereo receiver.
I would have bought local if I could have found a price within $150 of on-line.
After reading about others' shipping problems, I was worried about such a large, fragile, expensive item.
I ordered from Tiger Direct through Amazon, for $1700, inc shipping. I had no problems with delivery and so far (3 weeks) the TV seems fine. I am happy with the picture. As others have indicated, there are some minor lip-sync issues, with HDMI cable connection, but they are not major. Different programs vary the lip-sync delay so I think some of the problem is with the cable box. I will try to fine tune it and see if it helps but I am going to be connecting to a receiver so that should provide a fix, according to other reviews. I am glad I selected this TV especially for the price, appearance, performance and reflective characteristics.

It doesn't get much better for the $$
Nice TV, crisp picture, colors are vibrant with streaming action (1080i/p mode). When it comes to the refresh rate, I could not tell the difference from the 120Hz model so I'm not convinced there's an improvement. The on-screen menus are intuitive and easily accessible. Predefined viewing modes make it easy to adjust for lighting conditions without going through the tedious process of manually adjusting backlight and color levels.
Overall a great buy.

LG 55 INCH 240 TRU-MOTION
This was a great purchase. The cost was $800 less than the same item in local stores. The delivery person actually off loaded the set and did total set up to make sure that it worked. The only issue I have with this purchase is that the operation manual is on CD (as most items are these days) so its a hassle to open up the CD when questions arise on operation. Other than this minor item I have had no issues with this purchase.
PS- The 120 Mhz version of this set is still tracking at a HIGHER cost in local retail stores than the online price for the 240 Mhz version.

I looked far and wide to try to find a TV that comes close to the features that this LH55LH has for the money. Amazon.com was far and away the lowest price when everything was considered. I even went to the local dealer to look see what I was buying and gave them the price I could get on line, with free shipping, delivered to my home and the owner informed me that he paid more than that for the ones he sells in his store and that there in no way any one can sell for that price and he would guarantee me that I cannot buy it for that price either, because when I submit the order, they will add this and that and other things to the price. HDTV
We decided to buy the HDTV from Amazon because our friend has done it a few times and could not say enough about how easy it was. We did our home work in town and knew exactly what we wanted. I was afraid something would happen in the shipping. It not only arrived in one piece, silly of me to worry that it wouldn't, the company that delivered it was great! The delivery man was courteous and efficient.

Phenomenal TV
We purchased this TV a few months ago and have been completely satisfied with it along with the customer service from Amazon. We bought it from Amazon and after 2 weeks the screen went black. We called Amazon and they had a new TV delivered to us within about 4 days. The new one has been great and problem free. The picture is amazing and once you watch True Motion television you can't ever watch "normal" tv again. Great investment. Great job on customer support Amazon.

A great addition to our family room!
First of all, I've only had this TV for about one week. I can't really comment on this TV's reliability, but I am hoping this TV will prove to be as glitch-free as my other LG 47" LCD TV purchased almost three years ago.
For those who are interested in pricing, I purchase this TV directly from Amazon for $1599 with free delivery. The pricing had fluctuated wildly from $1599 to $2199 for about a month prior to my purchase in late March 2010.
I don't intend on covering the technical specs because they've been covered by other reviewers. For me, the biggest worry with this TV has been the notorious lip-sync issue. I am glad to say that I didn't experience any problems connecting either the Blu-ray player or the WD TV Live media player using HDMI cables on hand. I do want to make clear that I don't subscribe to cable or have a complicated audio setup.
Here are some general observations:
PROS:
+ No visible motion blur. This TV streams sports and fast action sequences beautifully.
+ Four HDMI connections.
+ Interface that auto detects activated device like a Blu-ray player and prompts you to switch to that input device.
+ Better contrast ratio than my previous LG LCD.
+ Very detailed picture adjustments. The picture adjustment menu seems to go on and on.
+ Variable energy savings mode.
CONS:
- As others have commented, the sound is probably the biggest drawback, but one can always supplement with a surround system or even just a soundbar using an optical cable or HDMI connection.
- No accompanying menual. Only an enclosed CD with pdf documentations.
Overall, I am very happy with the purchase. Hope this review helps those people who are sitting on the fence because of the lip-sync issue.
