Reviews of LG 37LH40 from Amazon.com
Best current option at 37" for the money
We recently grew tired of our old CRT 37" behemoth 10-year old Samsung TV and decided to join the HD world. Since our entertainment center can only hold up to 37" we were limited in options (no plazma, not a ton of 37" out there for LCD either compared to other more popular sizes). We shopped around, checked prices and reviews, then went to a store and looked at many of them in person, deliberately going on a Sunday afternoon so football would be playing so we could see how well they perform during a sporting event with lots of motion. For the price, the quality of this LG 37LH40 was a no brainer. The only models that looked even close in picture quality were Samsungs that are hundreds of dollars more expensive, and most other 37" TVs are only 60hz instead of this LG's 120hz. Setup was simple and we easily have connected the DVR, Blu-ray system, and Wii and have slots of each type remaining we could use for future expansion. Picture quality is very good on standard signals and fantastic on HD signals. Blu-rays look amazing. Good sound from the TV itself and the clear voice feature is nice. Remote is very intuitive and all setting are very easy to adjust. Nice picture and audio features. Very happy with this purchase (also integrates almost seamlessly with our LG Blu-ray home theater system - they recognize each other, etc.)

LG37LH40 LCDTV
This tv performs all the normal tasks as per spec's.
The biggest flaws are:
1. The lack of printed manual.
2. The remote is chintzy, and isn't lighted.
My biggest Pluses are:
1. Great picture quality.
2. Good on board speakers.
3. Lots of HDMI ports.
4. Attractive appearance.
One special alert:
1. My DirecTV remote didn't list LG as a recognized TV.
a.You must KNOW that LG = LUCKY GOLDSTAR in the DirecTv remote
codes list. Then you can proceed to program the sat.'remote.
This is really a criticism of DirecTv, not LG.
A more robust remote and a printed manual would make this set a 5 star buy in my book.

Perfect size
It does almost everything we wanted. Just wish it had an optical sound input for the computer rather then the old pin style one.

So far so good
I've had this product for about a month and have had no problems. I currently have my satellite dish, x-box, laptop and wii hooked up 2 it. The x-box and computer look awesome....I absolutly destroy people in cod4 becuase of the picture and the speed. My laptop looks really well also, my laptop screen is 1200p but still works well on the tv. I bought the tv because I love hockey and wanted a really quick response time; my LG has the best picture I've seen so far for hockey. The menu is easy to use and adjusting the picture with as much detail as you want is simple. The tv saves your settings for each different input, this feature makes things very convenient. The only bad thing I can say is that original viewing settings are all dark, I've had to adjust them all to get a picture I want. Sound is decent nothing great but not bad. Overall I would recomend, the response time is awesome and the tv cost only around 200 dollars more then tv's with response times not even half as fast.

This is a great television and easy to use.
I have had this television for two weeks. I got it after being greatly disappointed with a Vizio 37 inch 1080p. The difference between the two was very noticeable. The picture and sound are far superior. Even when comparing to the 720p LG 37 inch, this one is much better. The television was very easy to set up. The amount of HDMI, component and AV inputs are more than adequate for any standard home theater set up. I read one review that gave this television low marks for not having a headphone jack. I feel that if you are going to get a television of this caliber, you will get a good receiver that supports headphones. I feel that is an unimportant option and I prefer having that fourth HDMI port. The energy saving option is a nice addition, although if you get a lot of sun, you need to keep that setting low during the day. All menu options are easy to navigate. I love that the television knows what types of connections you have. When scrolling through inputs, it highlights the inputs that have devices connected. Overall, this is a great TV and I highly recommend it.

Great picture great price
I looked around for a while for a tv that was 37" that had 1080p and 120Hz. Since 37" seems to be an oddball size, there weren't many options. I'm glad I decided on this one. It has a great picture and all the inputs I need with some room for expansion. I was also very happy with the price of this one (~$700) versus what some of the other comparable models were charging. Overall, no complaints though I will say that with the higher res and 120Hz it is much more noticeable when a camera is hand held and the camera operator is moving!!

PERFECT SIZE AND PICTURE.
THIS TV IS GREAT. HAS I SAY 9 OF 10 PICTURE QUALITY.SOUND IS EXSELENT. PIANO LOOK OF TV IS GREAT.THE WAY IT GIVES YOU THE OPTION TO BE ENERGY STAR IS 10 OF 10.OPTIONS AND EZ OF USED 9 OF 10.I COMPARE THIS TV TO OTHERS THAT I HAD 1080P TOSHIBA REGZA WAS BEST IN PICTURE I SEEN IN LCD /10-10 BUT SOUND WAS POOR.PROSCAN THAT I HAD WAS JUST POOR TV COMPARE TO PICTURE QUALATY OF TOSHIBA AND LG.I ALSO HAVE 37IN OLEVIA- GREAT TV IT HAS MORE OPTIONS IN VIEWING THAN THE TOSHIBA AND THE LG BECAUSE THIS TV HAS UP CONVERT OPTION BUT IS ONLY 72OP AND LOUDEST OF SOUND BUT IT IS THE BIGGEST IN VOLUME SIZE. BUT YES PICTURE QUALITY IN THE LG IS BETTER 108OP.OVER ALL I GIVE THIS TV -FOR PEOPLE THAT ARE PICKY- RATING OF 9/10.

LG 37H40 Life is Good!
I have been looking at this TV for over one month. I have gone to the LG home page and compared all their TVs. I selected LG because of the one feature that I really needed. That feature was an automatic wakeup. The TV will turn on and off at set times and you can set the wake up volume, how perfect is that. This is great for those of us that just can't get to the alarm clock fast enough and then fall back to sleep after we hit snooze.
I find the picture is just wonderful, sound perfect, remote easy to use.
I also did not find the need to attach it to the wall nor the furniture by screws. I have it sitting on a high boy dresser and it is just perfect.
LG you make my life good every time my TV turns on in the morning!

Very Satisfactory, good seller
We had a limited space in our entertainment center and needed a unit chosen more for size than quality, so we are satisfied with the results. We only regret not getting a slightly better Hz rating; would have prefered 240 instead of 120. But the experience with the seller was good. The product arrived fairly fast, it was as advertised, and when we needed to contact them they were very helpful on the phone. Kudos to this seller; we are very happy with the TV. I would not hesitate to do business with them again.

Great value for the money
I'm no expert, but the LG 37LH40 works well, the picture's great, and everything is as advertised. I don't think it's worth shelling out more $$ just to get the Sony or Samsung name brand unless you have more money to burn than I do.
The sound is not stellar, but that's also the case for most flat screens.
I would recommend this tv to my friends without hesitation.

I LOVE THIS TV!!!
I purchased this TV for my bedroom. Easy to use and great picture. At just under $700.00 and with free shipping it was over a $100.00 cheaper than Best Buy. TV arrived in 3 days and was in perfect working order. I could not be happier!!!

lg 37 inch 120 1080 p tv
this is a wonderful tv. the picture quality is outstanding. almost no blurring in action sequences. the set itself is slim and the setup was easy. the energy savings setting is great and the ability to manually adjust the screen size to stretch the picture because some tv stations do not fit all around is very helpful. i wish that the "burn effect" didnt happen because that is a concern though it hasnt happened. Thats where the stretching comes in handy.
There are plenty of inputs on the back of the tv. 4 hdmi and component and composite inputs plus 2 digital outputs for audio. all around i love this tv!

Love this TV!!!
This is a great TV for anyone looking for a midsize lcd television. I was comparing this to the Samsung 37 inch with Red Touch of Color. When I first was comparing the two televisions in the store, I was actually leaning towards the samsung. The Samsung seemed to have brighter colors, what I then realized was that the LG had a far more REALISTIC and natural image. I went with the LG because had the same exact stats, was 100 dollars cheaper, a simpler and smarter on-screen menu, and had a superior and realistic image on screen. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend this to anyone looking for a top of the line 37 inch LCD tv.

Great Picture once you calibrate it
This TV is a fantastic buy once you calibrate it. The one major thing I suggest is Turning the color temperature to "cool". Warm is overkill and the other setting does not look right. Cool is the right color temperature. Once you use the picture wizard, the screen comes to life. Fantastic picture and the true motion technology really does make it seem your at a movie. I upgraded from a Vizio 32" and the new technology in this baby brings a whole New experience to the bedroom.
The picture is fantastic
The sound is ok. Kinda flat but more then acceptable for an LCD. Does sound much better once calibrated to your liking.
The features are fantastic and very versatile for anyone's needs.
LG is really becoming a great company and this is a great product. Amazon shipped it ahead of schedule and I received it in 4 days. Do yourself a favor and buy it and you will thank me later.

Best pound-for-pound value in the 37" class 1080p
I have been very happy with Sony televisions but it seems like Sony gave up on the 37" category, especially when it comes to 120Hz. In the 1080 category your remaining choices are essentially Viera, Samsung, and LG.
LG wins on contrast ratio, which I think is extremely important. That's one of the reasons why a good TV looks so much better than a standard computer monitor, which might only have a contrast ratio of 5000:1 compared to 70000:1 or 80000:1 for this TV. While I have been happy with a Sony with a 30000:1 ratio, this 37" TV was going to face more indirect sunlight so a higher contrast ratio I deemed especially important.
Picture quality and viewing angle are excellent.
The setup is very easy. The manual is surprisingly brief. The remote is function but not a Universal Remote.
It doesn't say so in the manual, but you can control the lights. I chose to inactivate the "power on" and "power off" lights in the lower righthand corner. By default they are on any might cast extra light in your room when the TV is off. For my part I don't like to have extra lights or blinking, especially in the bedroom. In fact, the "mood lighting" on the competing Samsung was a big turnoff for me.
LG does make a 240Hz model, but that is overkill. Frankly there is very little you can do with 120HZ over 60Hz except (1) show 24 fps movies without 3:2 pulldown, and (2) a faster pixel response time. But for a couple bucks, I believe the faster response time of the 120 Hz justifies the small step up.
If you are hooking up your computer that doesn't have a DVI port, there is a VGA connector and you will need a microphone patch cable for the sound.

Great TV
Love ALMOST everything about this TV, but the surprising lack of an audio OUT for headphones is a disappointment!!! There are LOTS of other INPUTS for everything but no HEADPHONE audio out and one has to go to great lengths for a work around! DUMB for so good a TV --prevents me from giving the set a 5 Star rating.

Easy to set up. Controls are well defined and simple to use. Picture quality is very good. I'm very satisfied.

Easy-to-use, and easy on the eyes.
This is my first HDTV, and I love it. It's easy to set up and use right out of the box, or, if you prefer, you can spend hours specially adjusting the picture to your specific preference. The color and picture customizable preferences are vast to say the least.
At first, since the Trumotion made everything look like it was in fast-forward, I would leave the 120hz off, but after watching a whole hour-long tv show with the Trumotion on, I grew to appreciate it and now I always leave 120hz on. It actually looks like you're watching actors on a stage in front of you. Impressive.
The sound is great, and with the speakers hidden in the back, the frame looks nice and sleek in front.
This is a quality set for a decent price and I would recommend it to anyone.

Great TV, but do your research
I basically bought this TV to use as a PC monitor. Between games and movies I wanted that "cinema" experience in my office, not just on the couch in the living room.
I chose the LG based on the stats and reviews. Overall it is a great TV, with easy to use menus and just about all the picture control a person could ever want. The picture control goes beyond most TV's options with LG's "expert" picture mode that lets you adjust much more than just contrast and color.
This TV is hooked up to the PC via HDMI and the PC recognized it immediately. It also gives the option of 24hz refresh rate (the pc recognizes it is a 120hz model that will run 24hz without pulldown), so there were two native resolutions available, 1080p/60hz and 1080p/24hz. It really isn't needed on a PC, but nice to know if you are running a blu-ray player it will accept the 24hz signal without issue (a PC will normally change to 24hz when fullscreen movies are played even if you have it set to 60hz).
The one issue I found with this TV is that there is no PiP. My 2-year old Vizio first generation LCD has PiP, why wouldn't a brand new 120hz model have the same? No PiP falls just short of a deal breaker, but I can live without it. The idea was to be able to watch TV in the PiP while browsing the net or working, but that is out the window.
I would like to say that most people are not going to like the "TruMotion" option that 120hz TV's offer. The LG TruMotion does work, but I have found that the picture is so surreal that it is uncomfortable to watch. This has been the case on every 120hz TV I have seen EXCEPT the Sony Bravia XBR series. The Sony engine just seems to retain the cinema feel while adding the additional smoothness to the picture. If you are on the fence between the two then definitely consider the Bravia, the price difference is worth it, expecially considering you will be keeping a TV like this for years. The TruMotion is great for sports though, it almost feels more like looking through a window than watching a screen.
The performance of this TV has been outstanding so far (excluding TruMotion). Just comparing it to my Vizio 47" 1080p 60hz there is a big difference. Tearing that was present in some movies and all games on the Vizio is completely gone with the LG. Scrolling and fast movement are very smooth and clear, and the color depth is outstanding. Movies really stand out in 720p or less and much of the graininess is gone vs my older Vizio. In 1080p the clarity of the screen stands out and even sitting only about 3-4 feet away it looks great.
The sound is good, but nothing great. There are options like voice clarity that I really like, it helps keep the volume reasonable and you can still hear voices from shows/movies very well.
The design is nice, there is a LED on the bottom that moves when you power it on, just a gimmick item that makes it look nice. The bezel is rather large, about twice the size of my Vizio 47", but in all honesty you don't notice it. The only drawback is the bezel is a highly reflective black and any light behind me reflects. Consider that when buying. The screen is not a glossy screen, but it does have a tiny bit of reflection to it... my guess is that the enhanced contrast ratio this TV has requires the screen to be darker making it reflect a little more than an older LCD might.
Overall a great purchase. There certainly is a difference in picture quality between this and older 60hz LCD's. Personally I rate the XBR Bravia LCDs a little higher, but you also pay for that difference. I know there are a lot of people like me looking to get an HDTV for use as a monitor, if you are then you will enjoy this TV. Just remember that you need to take at least a few hours and really set the picture how you like it because right out of the box it looks good but with some tweaking you can get this screen to do some amazing things.
I also want to add that Amazon shipped this TV out very fast and the Pilot carriers who delivered the TV were great (I also got free shipping). They actually called and delivered it on Saturday since they had so many Christmas orders from Amazon. I declined, but the Pilot driver offered to bring it into my house and unbox/power it up to make sure everything was working. If you are worried about having a TV like this delivered (like I was), you don't need to be.

LG wonderful HDTV
AFTER A YEAR OF RESEARCH INTO THE BEST HDTV AT A REASONABLE COST, I DECIDED TO PURCHASE AN LG 37 INCH, 1080P, 120HZ SET WITH A MATCHING LG DVD PLAYER, AND I AM THRILLED WITH THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF BOTH. THE SOUND IS ALSO WONDERFUL, YOU WOULD THINK THAT YOU WERE LISTENING TO SURROUND SOUND WITH SEVEN SPEAKERS. THE PICTURE IS VERY SHARP WITH GREAT CONTRAST AND I AM NOT USING A HD CABLE BOX. THE BUILT IN TUNER SEEMS TO CAPTURE EVERY PIXEL. I WOULD RECOMMEND LG TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR A GREAT TV AND LET ME ADD THAT I PURCHASED IT ONLINE FROM AMAZON AND IT WAS SHIPPED TO ME AND DELIVERED WITHIN FIVE DAYS WITH FREE SHIPPING. I AM SO PLEASED, I PLAN TO PURCHASE ANOTHER LARGER LG SET WITH A MATCHING BLUE RAY PLAYER FOR MY LIVING ROOM IN THE NEAR FUTURE FROM AMAZON AS WELL.

Great Picture Quality for HD Sources
Bought this TV after Black Friday and with free shipping (and installation which I didnt need) and no tax to a CA resident (usually another 10%) I figured it was a steal. I have not been disappointed with the picture quality. My PS3 for gaming has been great. And Bluray movies look great. The audio seems to be OK. A small bedroom so its hard to really get a good feeling for the power of the TV audio. The 120hz is good for video games but in movies it just makes everything look like fast motion and un natural. I have tried to find the Movie 24 fps mode but cant for some reason. Havent really looked at the manual though. Works well for PC gaming but text can be a pain on such a large screen at 1920x1080. Overall great picture quality for HD sources and 120 HZ helps in some cases. For $711 delivered and 1080p for 37" from a reputable company its a deal.

LG television is great
We needed 37" television and there are not many companies that make this size. I have looked at many different televisions in the stores and the Samsung and the LG seem to have the the best picture quality. We decided on the LG as they make a 37" and the Samsung doesn't. Also, the LG picture quality is fantastic and it is a more reasonably priced television. We are extremely happy with our choice.

Great TV. It was all I had hoped for. TV works great and the features are easy to use. Clear and crisp picture. I hope it last a long time.

LG37LH40
I've had this TV for a month and have had no problems. Picture quality is really good. It is basically a smaller version of a LG I already have. The only thing that would make me happier is getting it cheaper, and I already got it at a great price, w/free shipping and it arrived at my house in 3 days.

Only 37-inch 1080 120Hz at this price!
I bought this for the bedroom. It's mounted high on the wall.
Pluses:
1. Nicely packaged for UPS delivery, with corner savers. Arrived quickly and without damage.
2. Menus are shallow, don't require as much drilling as Panasonic or Samsung
3. Good sound from the built-in speakers
4. Matte screen finish
5. The only 37" 1080p 120Hz set I could find anywhere near this price
6. Switching inputs is relatively quick and easy, Tuner to HDMI
7. The automatic screen dimming is nice. Doesn't overload your senses if you want to watch in the dark.
Minuses:
1. No "CC" button on remote. I shouldn't have to drill down to turn it on and off.
2. OTA guide data shows program names only. Does not show program descriptions like my Samsung.
3. Manual is online or on CD. You can print it yourself, thank you very much.
4. No headphone out or analog audio line out! Must use optical output. Since this is a bedroom TV, I bought the Sony MDR-DS3000 IR headphones ($145) which have an optical input. Since two or three others mentioned that in their reviews, I don't think LG considered the downside of economizing there. Namely, instead of plugging in any old pair of headphones, you have to spend $65 for a D to A converter, and that does not include getting to phone level. Somebody else mentioned this was not important, since you can just hook it up to a receiver. I disagree; who is buying a 37" TV to connect to a fancy sound system?
5. I don't like the way it arranges the cable channels for surfing. For example all of the analog channels end in "-0" and are in order, then at the top of that list you get the Clear QAM channels. My Samsung intermixes them so you see analog 4, then 4-1, 4-2, 4-3 in that order.
6. The remote has NO lighting. This would have been really nice for a bedroom TV, Mr. Lucky Goldstar!
7. No universal remote functions. It would be nice to be able to just program in the basics for the DVD player for when I am too lazy to find that remote.

Exceeds Expectations
I just got my TV, it was really easy to set up and compared to other LCDs I think it's definitely a great value. Loved the sound, the color is amazing, and it looks great! I am very happy about this purchase. Would definitely recommend it.

Looks and sounds good
I got myself this 37in 1080p 120 Hz LG flat screen for Christmas with an LG bluray player. 1 month in they are both working, looking and sounding great. We watched Disney's Earth as one of the first bluray movies and it looked spectacular. It took me about 30 min to hook both up and be watching TV/movies. I am very satisfied so far. I have noticed some of the "graininess" with rapid motion watching DVD's that I had read about before. It doesn't happen often and I don't think my wife even notices but I catch it occasinally. Now I just need to get HD channels from my cable supplier.

Great TV
The TV was packaged in the normal packaging so nothing special there. I didn't configure the picture quality for a while as I did not read the manual. Eventually I stumbled across how to configure it and it has a very easy walk thru process. Now that it is properly configured, everything is much more enjoyable. Great TV. Good sound, great picture. In all a solid product.

Excellent TV
For a 37" tv this tv feels huge. Admittedly it is our first high-def tv but we very much like it.
I like the easy to use energy saving settings. It essentially just turns down the brightness of the picture but it has come in handy when light-sensitivity has been an issue. The settings are accessible right from the remote and the change is immediately reflected in the picture.
The sound is good. Television we watch at about 10 which is less than a quarter of the volume the tv is capable of.
The tv also comes with different aspect ratio setting so you can adjust the picture for older things not filmed in the tv's aspect ratio without it looking distorted. Changing the settings is easy once you figure out how to do it for the first time.
Overall, we are quite pleased with the tv.

LG HDTV
This unit is as good as it gets. I purchased a Vizio and returned it in a month. Sound was terrible. Purchased this unit from Amazon and am so happy with it. Sound and picture quality the best. So easy for me to set up. Would highly recommend

Great TV for price!
This is a great TV for the price. The quality is amazing! The menu is also very easy to use. The sound is ok but that is typical for any LCD. I bought the LG BD 370 Blu-ray player with it that connects to NetFlix and it looks great! The HD quality streaming from NetFlix looks the same as a dvd. I recommend both this LCD and the blu-ray. I think 37 inch is a great size.

LG Service is Great
We needed a second tv for the bedroom and were going after another Samsung as we already have a 52" downstairs and it is a great tv. We ended up with a 37LH40 LG because we got a killer price on it compared to the LH30 and the comparable Samsung.
We didn't get a chance to use it for a week after we got it and when we did it had an out of sync problem....Video a split second before the audio. I called LG and we tried to reset it over the phone but no luck. They sent a service guy the next day and he had it corrected and was done in 10 minutes. Be aware some units built in September of 2009 have this problem and all it needs is a software flash and it's fixed. If your serial # starts with 909 it is a September build and may or may not have the problem. Anyway they fix it quick and easy....Excellent service great tv.
I would recommend it to a friend.

Sound sync delay!
Although the picture quality is better than good, the HDMI audio sync is seconds slow with my cable box. The result is that everything you watch comes off like a badly dubbed movie. I have TimeWarner cable and the Scientific Atlanta box. The first (Samsung) box had to be replaced due to the Hi-Def channels going black. Also, I've connected the audio with the old red-white cables to an aux audio device and it helps a little but the problem is still noticeable.
I'm sure it's not the cable boxes because I had a smaller 1080p Sharp Aquos which had no problems with the Samsung. And, since I have multiple cable boxes, I switched boxes with my other 1080p TVs and it was only with the LG 37LH40 that I have had this problem with.
Since then, I've read from online reviews that many people have experienced the same problem.

Review from a gamer
I bought this television due in large part to the fact that it has a 2.7 millisecond response time. You may have to look up the television's specs on a site other than Amazon.com in order to verify this for yourself because Amazon doesn't seem to be displaying all of this TV's technical specs at this time.
Anyway, response time is important for multiplayer gaming, and 2.7 milliseconds is very good compared to some other LCD televisions available on the market. If there is too much delay, it puts you at a disadvantage when playing against other people online.
My main complaint with this LCD is that, despite the 70,000:1 contrast ratio, I don't really think this set has as rich of colors or blacks/whites as any Samsung LCD that I've seen or used. I've had this LG set up next to a few Samsung LCD televisions and computer monitors and I always get the impression that they are a bit brighter and more vivid, but only to a degree you would ever notice by doing a side-by-side comparison. Considering that this LG is 120 hertz and is so reasonably priced, I'm willing to look past this.
I've also had issues with the LCD displaying odd lines or the sound cutting out when I first plug my 360 component cable into it and turn it on for the first time (after moving it from one room to another or something of that sort, which happens a lot since we use it for marathon gaming sessions). Turning the set off and on again always fixes the problem but it is annoying.
Overall, this is a very good set and I would simply recommend that if you purchase it, you should watch out for some of its potential quirks.

Blueray works on it great! No AV audio out. Sound sucks
I bought this TV mainly for XBOX gaming and Blueray purposes and both work great. Picture quality is top notch while I played my favorite scenes from Transformers. It's ass kicking. XBOX gaming experience has improved too due to the 120Hz and high contrast ratio.
The sound of the TV is the biggest drawback. You will need to hook it up to a speaker system for sure. But you better have a newer receiver. Mine was 10 years old and only accept AV cables (red and white). This TV only has fiber optical Audio output. So I have to by pass the TV and hook my DVD players, and XBOX directly to the receiver (sound wise).
If you are just looking for a nice HDTV to watch TV and regular DVDs, then buy a 60Hz regular 1080p or even 720p. My 720p Samsung LCD works just fine while watching direct TV. This TV does cost extra because of its 120Hz and high contrast ratio features. You don't need it unless you are going to use it for blue ray, XBOX 360 and PS3.

no PIP :-(
120Hz or higher is a must. 2.5 response time is a big plus. Love the picture quality and the options for all the color control. Blacks aren't as deep as others and like most flat panel TVs, the sound isn't anything special. The glossy black case can be a distraction if you have a light source anywhere in front of the screen because it will reflect back. All TVs should have non-reflective material for this reason. My main regret is that there is NO PICTURE-IN-PICTURE! I blew it! I assumed all modern TVs would have this. WHY NOT? It would be great to slpit the screen between the PC and another input. I do a lot of computer work sitting in bed and would like to watch TV while I work. PC input looks GREAT if your computer output can match the resolution!

Nice TV
Bought two of these at Christmas for our daughter & son. Extremely easy to set up and the swivel stand is a nice feature. The picture is superb and the sound is very good for this kind of TV. We had originally shopped Sony, but the sound on their comparable model was horrible. So far these TVs have been nothing short of excellent!

Great TV & Great price
I purchased this 37 inch LG LCD HDTV for my dad for a Christmas present. He loves it! Set up was a snap, a few screws to attach the base, one screw to secure it to the tv stand, connect up the antenna and componet cables. Simple to use, all the functions are pretty much intutitive. The fact that the tv knows what inputs are present is very nice, don't have to go through them all or try to remember what you have plugged in where.
Over that air recepition is also very good, my dad lives in a pretty rural area, and the converter box that he used on his old set didn't bring in all that many stations, I was actually a little worried about how many HD channels he would recieve to take advantage of the HD of the LG. Well, it is amazing how many channels he gets compaired to the convert box, and the picture on the LG on HD stations is amazing. The 120hz was worth the little extra it costs to get into the LH40 series, I have not detected any motion blur. The clear voice option is great for my dad, makes dialog very easy to understand across the room.
The USB port is a nice touch, my dad, not being of the computer and email age can view pictures that I would normally email to others. I can drop my thumb drive in the mail or plug in my camera when I'm visiting and my dad can see all the pictures I email to the rest of the family. My dad has 40 or 50 years of slides I am in the process of scanning to a thumbdrive so he can pop it in the tv and have his own slide show at anytime without having to drag out the projector and screen.
I am very pleased with my purchase and my dad is very pleased with his tv, couldn't be happier.

Love it!! Top notch picture, Unit looks nice, Surprising sound for a flat panel, not tin-y like most. Lots of settings, all accessible from the remote menus, lots of format choices, very happy with purchase.

LG TV
I was very much pleased with timed delivery of the product. After opening the box, setting the TV was a brease, it took about 20-30 minutes. All channels were found quick and setup HD.
The quality of the picture is exelent, sharp and vivid colors, the sound is OK for the type and size of the speakers.
Owerall very good quality TV.

Great decent size tv with a lot of features and didn't break my wallet.
I had an old 20" Philips tv for several years, and while it had been good to me, it was starting to show its age, so I felt it was the right time to FINALLY get an LCD tv. My room isn't particularly large (somewhere around 15' x 15' or a bit larger) so this size fit PERFECTLY. Really feels big in that size room.
Design and extras:
This thing is slick looking. Like my PS3, it really likes to attract dust, although that might just be true of most black electronics. Call me a geek but I love the little light show it does in the bottom corner when you turn in on... very Knight Rider-esque. It has quite a few ports, 4 HDMI and pretty much every connection you need, except for S-Video, but that wasn't a dealbreaker to me at all. Even has a USB port in the side where you can hook up an ipod or a music / pictures source.
Video:
Visual quality overall is fantastic. Blu-rays look amazing, and any nextgen system will really shine on it. Uncharted 2 looked incredible and was one of the first things I tried on it!
Trumotion... I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I'm not one of those people that gets turned off by that "look" you get with 120hz video, but I did notice that with certain kinds of fast movement, Trumotion had a tendency to display some motion artifacting around the object being moved. For example: in Assassin's Creed II when the character reaches a viewpoint and the camera spins around your character, there is visible artifacting in the background around the edges of the character. This is NOT present when Trumotion is turned off. I've read that usually (despite LG advertising Trumotion heavily) most people don't have it on except for sports, or will keep it at Low at the most. In general however, it looks great. Keep in mind that the TV offers a LOT of freedom with calibrating the colors (via Expert mode) manually, so if you aren't thrilled with the colors out of the box, you can still easily tweak it. I was much more pleased once I experimented with a set of calibration options I found on a site reviewing the TV.
Audio:
I can't really figure out what they were going for with their audio set-up. It doesn't really provide a convincing fake stereo surround sound the way that they claim, but the sound IS good for an LCD tv to be sure. The speakers are cleverly hidden in the bottom but it doesn't negatively impact the sound. There is also a mode that helps dialogue pop a bit more if you're trying to keep your volume low, and it does a decent job of that.
There IS an issue that inconsistently happens with owners of this line, and I think it's only fair to mention it. There have been reports of problems with audio sync where the audio will be maybe half a second off from the video, just enough that you notice something doesn't look quite right. LG offers a firmware upgrade if your TV experiences this problem, although they will insist on sending someone to set-up the upgrade for you rather than just giving you the usb that has it.
Initially after the first week or two I noticed this on some channels as well as potentially when playing on the PS3 (this was hard to tell however as the characters in the game were animated and I wasn't sure if maybe the game's lipsync itself was just off). After looking on some forums, I noticed a potential problem could be the cable box you're using. In my case it was an HD Motorola box from TimeWarner. If you have the same box, switch the audio option from Auto or HDMI to PCM, which is what seemed to resolve the problem for me. I haven't noticed an issue since, but I will always be wary of this issue since I know it has hit others in the past.
Sort of a side note, but I wish the Closed Captioning option on it wasn't restricted to just the SD cable input. The CC option is grayed out otherwise and I was so used to having on CC on my old TV in the evening to help keep my volume lower. Perhaps that's why other reviewers were a little miffed that the TV doesn't have a headphone jack, but that was pretty low on my list of negatives.
Also, do keep in mind that this TV needs HDMI cables at 1.3b or higher, but still compatible with 1.3. I made the mistake of picking up a couple cheap HDMI cables which ultimately were useless because they were just regular 1.3.
Overall, I'm VERY pleased with my LG however. The price was just within my range, the size was decent, and there are a LOT of features and oomph packed into this TV compared to similar sets from other brands. Just keep a watchful eye out for audio/lipsync issues when you initially get your TV and you should be just fine.

This LG is far superior to the Samsung
I purchased the LG 37LH40 a few months ago and simply love it. It is the perfect size for my bedroom. I started with a 40" 1080p Samsung that I got at Costco. It was too big for my space. Plus, the picture was not very sharp, not very clear or crisp. I figured that was because I wasn't using an HD input (just regular digital satellite-no HD channels) and that it was the best I was going to get. I took the Samsung back to Costco a week later because it was too big. I then got the 32" LG from Costco, thinking it would be the right size. Nope, it was too small. I gave it to my parents. It's a good size for their bedroom. I carefully measured my armoire and decided the 37" would fit, so I ordered it. It came and I hooked it up. It looked great. The picture was clear and crisp. The picture quality beat the pants off of the Samsung, which is supposed to be the best picture out there. Nope, not by a long shot. This LG is fantastic. I really mean it. Plus, it's less expensive. What a deal. I highly recommend the LG. It's the only LCD TV I'll ever buy.

Fantastic TV that won't break the bank
This TV is incredible. Sure, you can buy a Vizio or Hitachi or something for much less, but come on, if you're spending $700+, get something great! The options on this TV are fantastic, so you can adjust the picture until it is absolutely perfect for you. The 120Hz TruMotion works quite well, but if you don't like it, you can easily turn it off...same with the 24P Real Cinema, Intelligent Sensor, Energy Saver, and every other feature.
The only thing more incredible than the TV was the service I received from Video & Audio Center (I purchased the TV on Amazon, but from V&AC). There was an issue with my original purchase, and I have never dealt with a more gracious, quick-to-help seller than Video & Audio Center. Just fantastic.
Note: my DirecTV looks awesome via HDMI, my PC looks awesome via the SVGA HD15 input (be aware, there is no DVI input, so you may need a DVI/SVGA or DVI/HDMI adapter, which can be purchased at monoprice for $5), and my old DVD player looks fine via component cables.
Also note: I have occasionally noticed some video/audio sync issues, but it has nothing to do with the TV or type of cable used to connect to the DirecTV. What I have found is that on some of the older programming (things not filmed in HD but now being broadcast in HD), you see the sync issue (which is not corrected by switching to component cables, as some people have suggested), but when you watch new programming there is no issue at all. And even if there is an actual sync issue, which is doubtful, your 37" tv qualifies for free in-house servicing, which would probably take care of any issue in 10 minutes.

Picture ratio never right
I bought this over the Samsung I wanted because it was a 37" which is closer to what I wanted instead of a 40". When I got it home it set up quick and easy. However, the picture has yet to be the correct ratio. Whether it is 4:3 or 16:9 the picture is either a little stretched or cut off. I've tried both the auto settings and the manual and neither appear to make any difference. The beauty of my Samsung is that it automatically adjusts to the program for the proper picture ratio....the LG does not. As for picture quality it is terrible. The 20 year old RCA CRT TV that I just ditched for this had a better quality picture. All-in-all I am very disappointed and will soon be returning this the store where I purchased it.

Fantastic Television!
I could not be happier with this LG 37-inch 1080p 120Hz television. I did my research for a long while before making this purchase, and the price was unbeatable for all of the features that this model offers. The 1080p was a priority for me, as well as the 120Hz. I watch a great deal of sports so this feature was a must-have! The picture quality is terrific, and the overall appearance of the television is sleek and stylish. The set-up was very easy as well. The 37-inch is hard to find elsewhere, and it is perfect for the size of my living room. I would recommend this television without hesitation!
